I was poking around the PCKS site today and noticed an anomaly.

The basic knife is $65.00, and select finger groves for + $4.00, price is now $69.00. Selecting another basic handle material (cherrywood in this case) raises the price another four dollars, to $73.00 though it is shown as a $0.00 price change on the selection. If you select the cherrywood first, then the finger grooves, the price stays at $69.00.

I also notice the option for green handle sides is gone. Is that permanent?

I'm still annoyed that I can't access the site unless I use internet exploder - Opera can't get in, saying that I don't have the flash player (I do).

Ah well, just in the mood to grumble, I guess.

Al, are you considering adding to your already-extensive PCKS collection? What are you thinking about getting?

How could I possibly want any more?! :D

Ones that currently appeal -

Red Jigged Bone, NS bolsters, and gray ionfusion blade.

Smooth Waterbuffalo, NS bolsters, finger grooved, either BG42 or damascus (can't decide)

Brown Elk horn, brass bolsters, serrated BG42

Cherrywood, fingergrooved, NS bolsters, 420 HC with mattgray finish (I want one that is tough, and easy to sharpen. I'm developing new respect for the 420HC)

No rivets. Ever.

I got that cherrywood for my son, but with a damascus blade as a present when he had his eagle court of honor last spring, it turned out beautifully.

I figure it's got to be like the coffee club or something, buy 10, get the next free, right? (Joe? right??)

Hey Al,

If you want tough I'd go with the satin finish 420HC blade...if the gray is bead blasted it will rust much more easily than the satin, and will also show scratches more readily. If you are dead set on the matte finish be sure to oil it before and after carrying. I've had a satin finished 301 in my pocket for over a year now and no signs of rust at all but a bead blasted 455 had tiny spots on the blade after only a week of carry.

I also love Buck's 420HC...not much harder to keep shaving sharp than 1095 and seems to hold an edge a bit longer. Plus it won't rust at the mere mention of water. ;)
