This is another one that was here when I got home yesterday. I'd like some info on it if anyone can help me some. There's no date on the box and it's marked "B916-SP3-0" and the blade has 068/100 engraved on it.

I don't know when it was made or what the occasion or vendor it was made for. Any info will be appreciated.

It seems that Buck made the 916 in several iterations. I really have no idea how many different scales were made in the series but am aware that the 916 came in stag, giraffe bone, ironwood, and buffalo.

Here are pics of the Giraffe bone and Buffalo. I note that both are from runs of 100. The giraffe being 21/100 and the Buffalo being 15/100. Both were made in 2005. The buffalo is one of a set with a 401 Kalinga and a 976 Dagger. Don't know of the rest came originally in sets or not. I have seen individual parts of other sets offered on Ebay.

EDBEAU: the blade measures just a tiny hair under 8 inches.

Telechronos:):):)

Dave,

Tel has this one nailed for you. You can find info on the LE list in the BCCI March 06 news letter. Check your knife box and see if the cat. number on the box is 4368, that is the number for the Elk handled model. Also you should note that the G bone models only had 50 each made, the other three versions had 100 each made.

That's not quite a match either. The one in the list is a "B916-MT-0" (mine is B916-SP3-0) , and was made for Moteng and Rax (whatever that is) and has the cat. number of 4368. Mine doesn't have the cat. number on the box anywhere. Just two other numbers under the bar code, 33753 and 09879. There's also the serial number on the label.

Ok Dave,

March 05 news letter. It was a Special Order by Moteng & Rax...go figure. That MP, Elk 916 in orders of 100 must be good sellers!

You nailed it jb! Thanks alot for finding that for me. I suppose I should go through and print all the SP lists. That would help in the search, but a close date would sure help narrow it down. Too bad they don't all have manufacture dates on the label.

I have a few SP/LE's that are not on any of the lists, that makes it hard to decide just what they are:rolleyes:
