Neat pics.

Spectre, didn't there used to be a prohibition by Islam of reproductions of the human figure? That was said to explain the absence of human figures in rugs, pottery, metal work from Muslim areas. Maybe modernity overtook that ban.

I found my notes from Comparative Religion. It's many Sunnis (Wahhabis for example) and some Jews -- and all living things for those groups. It is based on an interpretation of: "You shall not make for yourself . . . any likeness of what is in the heavans above or on the earth below or in the water under the earth." Apparently, most Shia do not have this objection.

I've seen and appreciated a lot of customized rigs in the States, but that guy blows them all away.

Sweet pics. The huge concrete structure. What is that?

If you mean visible in front of the village, that's the Hesco barrier. It functions as a wall, in this case, and protects against incoming rounds. Each barrier is about 6' tall, and maybe 4' across. It's a fabric container, wrapped in wire, and filled with dirt. On the perimeter, the tops are sealed with concrete.

Inside Camp Phoenix, the Hescos are used to build blast shelters, in case of incoming.
