My wife and I have been pretty lucky making some great friends here on the porch and getting to meet them n person at the Rendezvous.

Quite awhile back Duncan asked if I was interested in selling hime a Scout knife I had, after quite a bit of time I ended up gifting it to him, he probably has still not received it yet as it takes awhile until his US based knife transfer agent gets a whole box of knives together to send to him in New Zealand.

Duncan contacted me a few weeks ago and asked for my address and stated he had some knives for me, I received them a week or so ago and they fit my collection perfectly, I am basically a vintage Barlow and Jack collector and Duncan sent me 2 very desirable Barlows for my collection and he sent my wife, Donna, a very nice A Wright Sheffield pruner.

The Wostenholm Barlow has 2 full blades, spey and clip and great dark bone handles, the Russell Barlow has great dark bone handles, a clip main which I did not have and an early curved short arrow tang stamp which I also did not have.

Hold On, Hold On now......

Augie has sort of played this out to make me look like a good fella, the truth of the matter is I kinda broke the rules a bit and pm'd Augie when he displayed a nice old Scout that I thought....... "Ooooh...that would look good sitting in my Scout Collection ..........." so I had asked him if, when he if ever wanted to sell- please remember me...this is risky doing this because there are people who have done this and hounded and hounded that poor person for the Knife - and I think that's pretty uncool, so I was a bit hesitant to ask Augie this.

Good Ol' Aug's then sat on it for a while then came back to say that he was going to gift me this Knife......so this isnt as though I was sitting here and thought
" You Know...I think I will send Augie and Donna some Knives.....", this was merely a reciprocation of Augies Kindness that really blew me away, and I knew I had a couple of Knives that he would like, to be honest, I really love that I*XL - I don't think this Knife has had use- the Staining look as though it's severely pitted- but theres actually NO pitting whatsoever- just a lot of staining- with stunning saw cut Bone- Full blades....just a darned beauty of an older Knife!
What better thing to do but to move it onto someone who has a passion of that style of Knife?

So guys and Gals...it's me who is the thankful one, the very lucky one, and it is Augie who needs to be congratulated - big time, I will chime in here when my postmaster sends out my box of knives..

ACTUALLY....theres a story to this..... Paul and Augie hatched up a plan to scare me....I was speaking to Paul one day, and he said that Augies Package had arrived and that there was a problem...
I was driving when talking to Paul, and he said that I am not to worry, but there was a hole that was torn in the package, Pauls Knife was ok, but mine was gone.....:eek: :eek:, I have to admit a chill went right down my Spine deep into my stomach..I kinda heard Paul talking but it took me back to when I had a lost and mint HJ Clauss form my friend Mike B go missing and never turn up......the fear, anger, worry- everything was washing over me with my voice in the background telling me " Its ok, it's ok.......I will get over this...I kind got over the HJ ........ you can get through this..." but I have never got over the HJ nor would I with this special Knife......:oops:

Paul said that he knew the Post Master and that the Post Master was sure that the parcel was intact when it arrived...Im thinking "well start taking that Building down Brother....what are we waiting for?...."

Then Paul started laughing - he just couldn't hold it in any longer...those two sons of.... well lol you know...they had planned this to worry me, but Augies plan was to keep me going for a few days!!! :eek: Augie....I mean c'mon man..... the pain I went through for those only two minutes was excruciating .......

So I got to thinking, I told Paul I was going to contact Augie and say that I had a bad Car accident while I was driving upon hearing the news....

So I pm'd Augie later that Night....sort of rambled some words - because I was still under the effects of anesthesia from an operation.... and then I left a gap and pretended that Sue had taken over the typing because we were in Hospital and that Duncan had a bad cut to his Head because he had an accident while talking to Paul, and that Sue would contact Augie later to let him know how I got on, Paul and I were having a laugh about this, and Paul said that Augie had contacted him about me "Did you hear about what happened to Duncan......?" Paul said yeah it was strange cause he was telling Duncan about the lost Knife then he heard all this crashing and the phone went dead.....:D

I was going to pretend to be Sue the next day and say that Duncan had passed away...but thought....nah...maybe that might be going too far. :eek::oops::D..but the thought did kinda pop in then go again - I had to ring Augie and have a laugh with him and come clean, and tell him how the two got me so good.... man that was just not a good feeling- Guys...It was a good one...you got me good ..... this will be remembered my friends
