Considering some forumites' apparent confusion over the "Girding Up" post and the publishing of continuing deceptions & half-truths, I feel that a bit more light on the subject is appropriate.
Sticking with knockoffs & misrepresentations, as most know, Cobalt originated the idea of the kamis making a Bowie & designed the first model. The first of HI's AK Bowies arrived in Oct '99. The design evolved further until this past Spring or so when the kamis "got it right". Here's one of Bill's comments about the first models: "The shop 1 effort was too far off so we didn't bother to ship them." GH is now apparently also developing a Bowie. Here's a related comment from GH: "The only thing he (TB) did say was that he wanted the bowie to be a bit thinner than the one they built for HI." This quote clearly tries to convey the impression that the HI design was faulty when, in fact, HI had rejected the piece being discussed. Moving on...
I find it interesting that the Gorkha graphic used on the HI site at http://members.aol.com/khukuriman/index.html , displaying the "Better dead than a coward" motto, is the same that GH is selling on http://www.cystern.com/khukuri/accessories.htm as an iron on decal. New issue...
I'm certain that I could find additional examples of prevarication but I think I have made my point. FYI, I was tempted a while back to order a GH khukuri stand but I held off. I didn't know why but, without giving it much thought, something just didn't feel right about it. Now I think I know why I hesitated. I won't do business with a person I can't respect.

ONE MODEL!!??? AKs, Sirupatis, Gangawalas, and Hanumans were all offered first by HI & have now made it into GH's offerings.Knocked-Off Models: I have always sought to produce models that were unique and previously unavailable...The ONLY reason I started offering ONE model with a scrolled buttcap...

Stolen Pictures: As everybody knows, I borrowed pictures from Bills website (when there was no Gurkha House and when there was NO copywrite statement on his website) when my companys website was being constructed. That the under construction website was publically available is regrettable to me, and I apologized to Bill and removed the photo immediately.

Pointless & misleading? Jaeger posted reports from the field on both HI & GH forums concerning his use of khukuris to dress out deer. Here's an excerpt concerning his HI AK: "Hacking through all that heavy bone left my AK unfazed. It did dull the edge some but it was still chopping sharp. No chipping, no impaction, no nothin' but severed body parts. I have many khuks but my 1st, my Shop 1 15" Ang Kohla is still my favorite. It just refuses to be damaged." Now, here's what he had to say about his WWIII: "Damage was in the form of a rolled edge in 5 places along the belly of the blade. All the damage occurred when chopping through the lower leg bones." And later, "To be honest with you I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the WWIII. It's going to have to be reground. The damage is pretty nasty. This has been a definite confidence shaker." And later still, "Anyone want to buy a WWIII?"I was simply defending myself against an untrue comparison. In the content of my response to the comment about direct-line control, I mentioned that I too had direct-line control of my product as evinced by the continued improvement in our line of khukuris since day one. Combined with Lalit and TBs expertise on the ground I found the comment made about my supposed lack of control to be a bit pointless and misleading to casual observers.
