what !!!! you go after stuff like that?!?!?!?!
omg what is buck collecting coming to !!!
;)

so sad ...
yet another one going hard core!
the addiction never stops
and there is no cure..

I was done below $200.

I LOVE Buck stuff but am more of a user than collector now. That went high in my mind. However, anytime you're talking one of a kind it's hard to put a price on it!

well
(spoken as stands up from a
cheep folding chair in a crowded room) ...
i am 334Dave and i am a buckaholic,
and i was the first place looser...

Sorry Dave! I've seen the knife in person and it was worth the cost. To the best of my knowledge it is a one of one. Take care.

Never liked duck pictures anyway, but that knife WAS a rare oddity, because nobody puts gold etching on damascus.

I was hoping to put in a bid in the vicinity of $250-$300 in the last five seconds, though.

Of course, you guys had already driven the price sky-high with your incessant early bidding.

When will they ever learn?

:D

well dick you are the one person i dont mind to much losing to!:)
i was jest not quick enough to get a 2ed bid in..;)
if you get ta chance would you send me so high res images of the blade for inclusion with my collection photos?

hay you guys,
dick is a longer term collector then me!
and he is likely one of about 5 people that have a
larger collection of gold etch then i do..:D:thumbup:

Well it was fun to watch this one. Many of us would have loved to have it for the old collection;). I new this one would be needed by a serious 110 collector....I thought 334 would have it. Richard, did you win this one (I did not see where you stated that)? It sure is one sweet Buck, DM/ST with gold etch; I have not seen one like that before...ever.

here is one i joked would hit between 400 and 500

Yeah, but the shipping was free!!:) Maybe we ought to work something about about 'you take this one and I'll take that one' just to keep them available. :grumpy:

naw... it is not fair to the sellers !
if you or i were to need to sell a knife i am sure you would not want
folks to get together and not bid so they could get it cheep..

He won and i lost and it is all fair and square..!
neither he nor i am up set over it :):)
i and he knew that there several hard core gold etch collectors out there..
it come down to who wanted it bad enough to pay what it took..
i was over extended as it was and had there been another .65 sec
my bid would have been close to 600$
and i am sure now i still would have lost..
as it is i can truthfully say to the wife..
"honey you know i love you and you know what -
i did buy that expensive buck knife that you said i could not afford "":thumbup:;):D

If you are going to have an addiction, collecting Buck knives is one of the least harmful. You can always re-sell them years later at an even higher price. :)

well there is always that ...
but she dont get on me to much ...
she was a tom boy as a kid and a good wife now!

Yes, I won the knife. It helps me document the oddball special project knives. We have a listing of a stag, canvasback duck 110 that I have never been able to confirm. This knife is as close as I have been able to come to documenting that knife. The documentation does not indicate a Damascus blade however. I have only seen this etch on a 531 with a polished blade instead of a Damascus blade. I have the 531 as well. I am still looking for a 110 with a polished blade in stag with the canvasback etch just to prove that it exists. If you guys can confirm that it would help. Thanks.

yes there are a number of knives that are not really known to exist
the kitty hawk was one i believe
it seems that there was art work that some times a test run was made
and some times was not
i would love jest to see black and white images of the art work!
btw : could you jpost a pict of your 531?
also who was in charge of the art work ?>

Sorry Dave I don't have a digital camera to post pictures with. The art work was supplied by the vendors who did the work and is no longer available. I know the Aurum art work was removed from Aurum when they were going through their break up and to the best of my knowledge only the person who took it knows where it is and I don't know who that was. The only copies that remain came from the approvals that Buck looked at and you know the status of those.
