Hi all,
My wife and I snow shoed for 3.5 miles today starting at the Barnes Corners trail head.
I took my trusty 16 with me, as always. Here are a few pics of our hike.

Looks like a blast. I love the snow. We're supposed to get a little more tomorrow.

Wow, gorgeous shots, sure looks cold though hahah!

im shocked to see so much snow, its march now so we're fixin to see temps in the upper 70s any minute here in south cackalak :P

I enjoy snowshoeing with my wife when we get enough! Your 16 still looks new, thanks for sharing! Do you bring brighter clothing in case you need rescue or something like that? Just curious. Thanks again:)

The area I'm hiking in is in the "Tug Hills" of northern NY. It typically gets the first, last and often heaviest regular snows in the area. It is also one of the coldest areas. It was around 20f and cloudy yesterday, but with no wind it was great.
Oh...you saw me in these pics? I guess the camo isn't working...These are well used trails...there were 10 cars in the parking lot...most were cross country skiing. Though we didn't encounter anyone on the trail we chose we were never far from help or the main trail head. My wife was with me so in case of emergency one of us would get out...the other is on his/her own by joint agreement hehehe. I carry emergency supplies, there is cell service...surprising...so we are safe. The trails are also safe and maintained though an ankle injury can happen no matter where you are but less so when wearing snow shoes.
It was a beautiful day...very quiet and calm...It was a fairly easy 3.3 mile trail with some decent little climbs but nothing strenuous and we were not in a hurry.
Here is a link to the area.

We started at the WP on 177, went up the Homerun Trail to Times Square, then right to the Whiteway Trail and back to the trail head. Very nice loop.

That looks like you had a great time. I might get out today for some snowshoeing. It is snowing as i type this.

Does all that snow in the trees act like dampening? Is it quiet in the forest?

Awesome pics!

You have a more optimistic view of the winter; I'm ready for this crap to melt. :)

Thanks for sharing the pics.
