Last night my girlfriend and I hiked out to a spot on some private land we has permission to use to have a campfire and cook some hot dogs.
I got to test out my new Gransfors Bruks axe and a saw that my girlfriends grandfather made. As allways Beckers were along for the ride too.
I gathered up the larger fire wood and cut it to size useing the axe, saw and my BK-16. There isn't much you can't do with those three tools.
Once we got the fire lay set up my girlfriend lit it with a ferro rod and some old mans beard. Her first natural tinder fire with a ferro rod. That made me proud. Anyways here are some pictures.
Breaking trail.
Her snowshoes.
A feather that she saw in a tree and just had to have. We think it is an Owl feather.
Some sort of fungus.
Gliding through the wood with the homemade bucksaw.
My girl throwing sparks. There was some paper from her pocket but it wasn't needed.
Fanning the flame.
FIRE!
After she got the fire going she worked on making a stick to cook Turkey hot dogs.
Practicing the chest lever cut.
Making the point.
Roasting away.
The tools that helped make it happen!
Thanks for viewing.
