More specific ship cost in sticky

Just thought this would be a good idea as the sticky only lists:
Swords--$15 shipping
Big Knife ...$20
Medium Knife ...$14
Small Knife --- $7

I think it would be rather helpful to specify either the size of boxes being used for each category or the kukri length limit for each category just so people know the ship costs on DotD items.

Just a thought - LMK your opinions guys :)

Actually, I think that prices for Big Knives and Swords may be swapped on that list. On 2/14, when I bought the previously unsold Tibetan Long Sword by Get Kami from the 11/19/2009 Inventory Clearance Sales, shipping was $20.

Yes - I found that strange as well. It seems logical that longer items would cost more to ship (unless the shape is awkward). I'd say that revisiting the est. shipping quotes wouldn't be a bad idea...

Yangdu emails you with the actual shipping you'll be charged when you get the confirmation that you got a DOTD or what you want is in stock.

Just add $20 to the price you see, and at worst, your guess will be confirmed, otherwise you'll be getting off cheaper than you planned on!

That is good thinking, Cpl!
However, i have sent Auntie an email asking for clarification on this matter.

I'm curious though. I noted before that swords cost less than big knives. It sort of seems counter intuitive to me, although I know there is a rational. I just don't know what it is. Someone fill me in please :D

Not sure, that is why i asked Auntie to clarify.

This is the reply i got from Auntie this morning. Sadly, she has had to adjust the shipping prices a bit to keep afloat.

Shipping cost within USA only

Sword $20
Big Knife $20
Medium Knife $14
Small Knife $14

So... given my size preference in khukuris (20"+) I should just add $20 to whatever I shark on a DOTD.

The good CPL is right.

you guys do as you please then. I am sure that you are right. When you are asked for more by Auntie because she feels it doesn't cover what she wanted for shipping, then I suppose you will simply pony up. Sad thing is, as nice as she is, it is more likely she will just accept what you send her and wish you had waited for her email.

Like I say, I am sure you are right.

Think the point sailed right over ya, dude.

Nobody is just sending money in.

You always wait for the email because you may not be the shark that got it.

Point is, for us all we have to do is look at the list price, add $20, and see if we can afford it.

And that was my point earlier. Instead of worrying about the exact cost when figuring if you can afford to shark something, just figure it at $20, and if you can afford it, shark it. If the email comes back with $14 shipping instead, you'll be happy because you got away with paying less than you planned. If it comes back $20, then you're happy because you got something you wanted for the price you were willing to pay.

Capice?
