More spring time critter pics, and a couple new knives

I spent the better part of today cruising around a couple backwater sloughs. Spring is here for sure. Lots of gators and turtles out sunning, I managed a couple of pics. I also watched a pair of nesting ospreys for awhile, until one caught a fish and posed for me with his catch. Weather started turning and I came back home and snapped some shots of a couple of newer knives I haven't posted. One I made, and the other a new model folder from Benchmade. Seems like a lot of knife for the money, machined G10 handle, axis lock and D2 blade. It's a tad bigger than a small Griptillian, with similar ergonomics. I picked this one up online for less than the price of a Ritter Grip.

Hope yall enjoy the pics!

Nice! We've got turtles and ducks and the very occasional osprey, but if I saw a big grinning gator by one of our lakes, ... I would be backing away ... :D

Nice gator, Ospreys, critters, and knives, thanks for the pics.

Where where they taken at?

I don't care for all the crap on the blade, and will eventually polish it off. Other than that, it's a solid little folder. Here it is with a small Ritter Grip.

more awesome pics Fishooter.. thanks for sharing man.. i dig that little antler knife too..:)

Lovely blades and cool wildlife shots!

Is that a grebe running on the surface of water?
Thanks for sharing wonderful shots!

Thanks guys. Mike, I'm happy with the way that one turned out. The tang is actually as long as the blade and curved like the antler. I thought I would end up ruining the handle getting the blade into it, but it worked just as I planned.

Thanks! It's a coot; a small diving bird. They are very common, and actually hunted during water foul season. Not bad eating actually, but smaller than even a wood duck.

Thanks for response, Fishshooter.
I often seen coots walking on the water, sorry not water, on water lilies. :)

This time I noticed the osprey is watching us!

Love the pics and I love that knife buddy, the scales remind me of a Gator as well !

What is the model called ?

Your are right Pit, looking at the knife, the whole thing is very "gatoresque" with the green and black textured G10 and round "eye" opening hole in the blade. It is from the "Bone Collector" series of knives. They are their own class of blades, like the Benchmade H&K or Harley Davidson knives.

Cheers buddy, I had actually looked it up on their site this morning. I also like the fact that the blade is D2. You will have to keep us informed on what your thoughts are when you have had chance to use it some more !;)

Thanks for the info and cool pics. I had figured that BM was a hollow ground when I first saw the pics of it a few months ago.

Thanks, I am in Northwest Florida.

I use to live about an hour north of West Palm beach. There was a kidney shaped pond in the neighborhood that had a couple of small gators in it. Been over 30 years now and they don't let them stay anymore (if any show up).

Saw some behind my dad's shop in Port St. Lucie (about 20 years ago) right off of US 1. Fed them KFC scraps-didn't know any better but at least I didn't feed them by hand. They were either relocated or killed I imagine since they were around shopping centers, etc.

Thanks again.
Jason
