Jerry; everything (without exception) you told me yesterday was bang on the money and I lost a couple of layers of skin to prove it! I found the 'groove' you spoke of and while it was a little intimidating at first, I managed to hold the line and complete the roughing cuts.
I know that you've all heard it before but I'm going to say it again anyway...the knifemaking community has got to be one of the most supportive groups of craftsmen I've ever had the pleasure of being associated with.
