From an article in today's paper headlined "Bhutanese leader slain while in exile in Nepal": "R.K. Budhathoki of the Bhutan People's Party was attacked with khukris, traditional Nepalese curved knives in his office at Damak..."

Another article that throws the khukuri into a bad light.:(
I doubt the news that khukuris were used would amount to much in Nepal, but it could in the rest of the world.
And then there are the ones who would be wanting a khukuri, just like an awful lot of people were looking for a knife like OJ's after the killings he got away with.

I'm really pleased that Uncle Bill chose not to send any of H.I.'s khukuri's to the outfit that was gonna be making another bloody and violent movie. Chances are they wouldn't have been used, but some character with a WoW Factor would've probably though that khukuris would be cool in such a display.
Sorta like the movie about a diffferent kind of werewolf where a man's head was torn from his body.
It mentioned earlier in the book, don't recall about the movie that a beheaded head would take about 3 minutes to fully die and that one would be aware at least part of that time that his head was no longer connected to their body.:(

There's no accounting for some people's taste.:(

This bodes badly for the political situation in Nepal. I hope calm prevails.

The late king Birendra Bikram Shah Dev used to promote Nepal as the "Zone of Peace." And it was pretty peaceful when I first went there but it seems things have changed drastically.

What's going on over there? The news just reported that there is terrible flooding along the Nepal/India border and that many people have drowned. Bad karma all around.

India has been constructing a series of dam-irrigation systems near the border - there were some news items concerning negotiations between India and Nepal over concerns that just this sort of thing could result, and IIRC, India had agreed to wait on further development until all the concerns had been dealt with. Looks like they were a little late.

... R.K. Budhathoki of the Bhutan People's Party was attacked with khukris ...
It seems I have to translate that phrase for Custom people so that it will sound as "R.K. Budhathoki of the Bhutan People's Party was attacked with wooden & steel handicrafts" - does it sound OK?
