I needed some specific pictures for a project so I rode over to a friends office today and went for a hike along the creek behind it that "Mountain Creek Road" is named for....the guyot pics are at the end :)

The truck looks a lot better without all the pollen on it...

this is some of the gear I took along...

There is some bamboo growing along the creek in places.

and some Poison Ivy on a few of the trees

I think maybe this is Virginia Creeper but I'm not sure.

Some future Walnuts.

The creek was flowing pretty good.I saw a few decent sized frogs but I wasn't quick enough to catch them with the camera.

I like how the guyot comes already set up for improvised water filtration. All you need is the filter :)

Those stainless Nalgenes are pretty sweet. I was really happy with the quality when I got them in. They are kind of pricey, but I can see why. I'd really like to see them expand the line with some more variations.

I just ordered the same bottle from Amazon & am waiting on it to arrive !!!! I think it is a great bottle. I got mine on Amazon for $21.99 & free shipping with $25.00 order, so I ordered Woodcraft & camping by Nessmuk for $6.95 & got the free shipping for both.

I recently got a couple of the Guyot stainless nalgenes from Dick's Sporting goods. They were selling them for $14.00 apiece.:thumbup:

Just got a Guyot. I had used the clear widemouthed nalgenes for awhile, but I am really liking the SS Bottle now! Great pics as always!

Those GSI Cups aren't too shabby either.....I use them in the house sometimes:eek:

14 bucks? Guess I need to make a trip to Dick's

I love my kleen kanteen ss bottles, and the extra flexibility of being compatible with nalgene accessories is even better.

Hmm might have to look into one of these for work.

Head back out there after all this rain we should get this weekend and the creek should be really flowing.

Great pics Mist....I love my Guyot/GSI combo.

Thanks man, yeah I'm really happy with the choice I made.

I wouldn't mind seeing some variations....same design but smaller.

I like Amazon, always have good service from them, but the guyot is only $22.00 at Two Wolves where I bought it and I like supporting our members whenever I can. Sounds like a good book though.

i got to get me that combo :D

They do make a great team :)

Wow! I'm always hearing about stores I wish we had around here lol.

The clear ones are pretty cool too, you can even buy a lid that turns it into a light...but you probably shouldn't boil water in it :)

I was just looking at the KK wine karafe at Rock Creek the other day. I want to get one of those for a surprise..."impromptu" date on the river with Lisa soon now that it is warming up.

I love the cup/bottle/canteen nesting kits. An essential piece of gear to have, in my opinion.

Good thread, Mist

Thanks man, yeah I've always loved them too but I really like how this one has a couple of advantages over my military issue ones.

That's a cool shot, like the other essential piece of urban gear you have there!

I would love a 27oz Guyot.....

KK wine Caraff?!?? Got a link? Sounds cool!

We have been using the Guyot stainless bottles for some time now. Our favorites of the stainless bottle variety. The other day we were in Dick's Sporting Goods and found a pile of the Guyot bottles for $12.00 a piece on Red Tag Sale. We purchased several more (both styles) for the older kids.

The Guyot bottles are a bit heavy for the type of backpacking we do, however, for a day hike, camping, woodsbumming, in a survival kit, etc., they are a durable and handy piece of equipment to have.

What type of sleeve is that on the bottle to the left? Is it on the standard model or the smaller? I would like to find some type of neoprene type sleeve for my nalgene!

Yep that's VA Creeper. You can always tell it because the leaves are saw toothed and grown in the same pattern as Hickory leaves.

Poison Ivy and all its nasty little cousins are one of very few things I dislike about spring and summer months.
