Kind of out of control I guess.......I tend to get an obsession about something and go hog wild. Just love these large toothpicks and had to add a couple Case to my mix. I promised @PocketKnifeJimmy some pics:

Good looking knives for sure. Knives are like Baskin Robbins.... so many flavors, but they are all ice cream!

Nice collection....nice obsession. :)

Here are my thoughts on the toothpick design....
I have 2 toothpicks at this time. A 3" Case and a 4" GEC. I owned a 5" "something or other" years ago.
In my opinion, for me, the 5" pattern really works for this type knife. I find the 4" is just a bit too short and cramps my fingers within the curve of the tail.
The 5" allows for a full grip and fits right in the palm.
The 3" is a novel design but there are plenty of other knives of the same size that are better.
Again.....this is my opinion.

Blueberry - these are 5" closed.

Bdev - I agree with your opinion. My main criteria for a knife is to be able to easily open and hold it. Might sound simple to most, but with a pretty bad case of RA I've been on a quest of sorts to find knives that I can work with.

My first toothpick was a #12 Tidioute which was the first knife I tried that I could open fairly easily. The 4" handle also worked well - better than any 3.5" knife I tried. So with that information, I had to try a 5" toothpick. I found the 5" to be even better - as you said I can get a full 4 finger grip which gives me a confident grip. Not only do I have problems with weakness of my fingers, that weakness also can bring me to loose grip on things easily.

So, the 5" toothpick has been the best of both worlds for me. When I find something that works for me, I tend to stock up. Only one of my toothpicks is a user so far, but I like to admire the rest.

How many Toothpicks you own depends on how many teeth you have left and whether you floss regularly.

Nice ones!
I've just been bidding on a nice Chestnut Bone toothpick on evilBay (full size, Case). Sadly, someone sniped me at the last minute, this afternoon while I was busy. :/

As long as you are having fun, and it does sound like you are enjoying the hobby, then go for it! We are all a little knife knutty or we wouldn't be around these parts;) plus, I don't think I'm the only one who enjoys looking at your nice pics of some cool knives:)

I have been buying Toothpicks lately, myself. First I bought a Zebra wood Queen 5 inch, then I ended up with a little 3.5 inch CRKT, and believe it or not, I really like that little cheap knife. It's been perfect for peeling apples and cutting up T-Bone steaks. 3.5 inches is the smallest toothpick I would purchase, I think.

Just for curiosity I also purchased a cheap 5 inch Marble's Toothpick, just got it last night. I haven't used it, really, but for $12.00 it wasn't much of a risk, and frankly it's a pretty good knife, finished pretty nice and hair flying razor sharp out of the box.

I also have a Northwoods five inch with stag handles coming from ebay. And I am not done yet, I want a few more and I am planning on getting a 4 inch Great Eastern, eventually, maybe a Case or two.

Anyway, the 5 inch Toothpick was the first knife that was ever given to me as a kid, and I think maybe I was hooked even then.

I look forward to hearing your opinion on the Northwoods. I was watching that one and almost bid on it at the end.

How do the big 'Picks carry?

I'll have to defer that question to some others as I don't "carry" a knife all day. When I am out and about on my property a large toothpick will ride in my back pocket. I would say that they wouldn't ride that well in a front pocket all day.

Stan... I notice there is some sort of etching on the white boned toothpick... Hope you don't mind my asking... what's it read? :-)

Would you mind posting a picture of one of the 5" open in hand? They have been on my radar for a while now, but have never held a 5".

Thanks,
Kris

Look at the way a front pocket is sewn (at least in jeans) with the curve down toward the front of the pocket.
From 4" pics and up in my estimation one of the best carrying slipjoints. Once we get over or under lets say 3"
or 5" they don't carry the same. If its a 4"---<5" linerless shadow it dissapears.
Ken.
