All,
You all are awesome. Some of you know that, some of you don't. But it's true. Like many of you, I've experienced other forums. Some of them contain lots of great information, for which I am appreciative. But NONE of them have the heart that I find on BF, especially in the Traditional forum and one of the manufacturer's forums that I frequent. It seems that every other day when I log on someone is doing another one of these GAWs. Maybe they reached 500 posts or maybe 10000. Well, I'm not that gal/guy. But not too long ago, I crossed the 100 post threshold, which is pretty remarkable for someone like me. I'm the type that feels he has more to learn than to teach, and I'm also pretty shy about involving myself in "communities" in which I'm not sure how I fit. I don't know quite how I "fit" in here at BF as I still have very few knives (but they are knives I am proud to own) and very little knowledge to offer. But you have given me fodder for my dreams, data for my brain, and a warmth in my heart. And for that, I am grateful. Your generosity is contagious!
Anyway, enough with the jabbering! On with the details... The knife is a Schrade USA Old Timer 6-0T (stainless) that I purchased new probably 20 years ago (gee, has it been that long?). Back then, this was probably the second nicest knife I owned, but due to its size it didn't get much carry time. It was used pretty heavily as a camp knife back then, but that was before anyone talked about batoning or any such thing--just general wood chores, whittling, and food prep. The knife is NOT currently sharp; it comes in the condition I "dug it up" in.
Truth be told, this is probably the best knife I DON'T use, which is why I thought it might be worthwhile to someone as a GAW.
Rules:
1.) You have to have been a member of Bladeforums for at least a month already.
2.) You have to have posted in the Traditionals subform at least 5 times (as a long-time lurker, I have low standards).
3.) You must share whether or not you have hosted or benefited from a GAW in the past. NEITHER precludes your participation, but I would like to see how many have been impacted by the incredible spirit of generosity around here.
4.) You must post a picture. If you have received or given a GAW in the past, it would be nifty if you shared a picture of it.
Winner will be selected by random number around the 15th or so. You can't win if you can't legally own the knife, yadda yadda, legal mumbo jumbo. We're all big boys and girls; be responsible.
Thanks again!
Michael
