More Traditional Generosity thanks to Knarfeng and Black Mamba

So about a week ago i get an email from Frank who tells me he needs my mailing address
and today, something arrived in the mail for me

apparently it was noticed that i was asking questions about 440C steel which i never had and was curious about.
So, apparently Black Mamba had sent Frank a GEC in 440C and together they decided that I should have something in 440C to try out for myself.

I need to thank Black Mamba specifically for the knife
and Knarfeng for sending it. You guys are too generous, my wife thinks i come on here and beg people to send me stuff. She doesnt believe folks are like this in real life :eek::)

and a nice closeup of the scales...some sort of coffee bone? not sure what its called. its very smooth and really kinda pretty in my opinion

Wow..that is one sweetheart of a knife-I agree, the scales are great! What a grand gesture Jeff... who is well known for being a Top Bloke ( which I fully agree ), and to a very worthy recipient....isnt it a great feeling!

thanks for the thread, and thanks to Frank and Jeff for their generosity. My first GEC was in 440C too, and I really liked it. I'm sure you will like it too.

it was waiting for me when i got home from work today
havent had a chance to do anything with it yet (besides taking pics)

after discussing the 440C with Frank, i think i need a different sharpener to truly see what its going to be like for me
apparently the 440c is too tough for arkansas stones like i have :p
 
That's how I got started too. I posted a question about the quality of GEC and another member sent me a #23.

The really funny thing, is I had a member picked, that I planned on sending one to, and other members beat me to it!

My wife has said the same thing, the last time a package came in over the summer she didn't believe me :p
