eBay item 2214156260 - a "khukhari," is shaped like a short corn knife (AND NO CHO!). Description goes on to say: "Khukhari also comes in curved shape." Probably also comes with 5-speed manual transmission if the price is right. And the lovely velvet scabbard.:D

Their khukuri is also used to "nevigate" in forests, is tied around the "waiste", and its steel has a chrome finish. It may be another example of Thai eye candy... Please don't use one on bamboo or tatami, Thomas. :D

Rajinder Nayyar replies: "Thanks for your comments. [ ] This is a khukhri with streight blade. Mostly you may be used to seeing a khukhri with curved blade which is more popular." :D

Well, at least they left out the 'boomerang' and 'torture knives' features. That's why it doesn't have a cho, BTW, which is used to aim the boomerang.

Seller, who seems quite concerned with my original question, e-mailed me with the news that the blade is marked "syrie." Can't be sure, but "syrie" is French for Syria. To Turkish Gurkhas can we now add Syrian khukuris? (Well, the Turkish Gurkhas have to get their knives somewhere, and it's a long way to Nepal.)

fear the turks. aardvark is correct, the cho is so the khuk can be thrown like a boomarang. the turk khulris dont have em cuz their hard core and like to get up close and personal. the pretty scabbard is to scare opponents away with its beuty and attract women to their harems. every turk gurhka has a harem of 10+ concubines, who are known to help the mighty turk gurhka fight by flashing the enemy to distract them and castrate enemy corpses after the battle.

fear the goorhka's of turkey.

One of their favorite battle ploys is to jump out of the sand and cut their enemies' feet off at the ankles.

"When you're left for dead on the Turkish plane and the women come out to cut up what remains . . . .

The cutting edge is blunt but can be sharpened depending on the use
Well, for cutting for example, I guess I would prefer sharpened. Just my opinion, YMMV. Have no personal knowledge of how knife-shaped things cut in Turkey, although around here sharp knives cut turkeys better.;)

I got yet another e-mail from vendor directing me to another of his sales: "Khukhari commonly comes in curved shape but straight shape is also available." 2215692906 Another lovely sheath - makes me get rushes all over my body.
