More Urban LW steel options

I just love the K390 Urban LW; really love it. I think it is a great platform for introducing new steels. I would love to see Spyderco offer some more steels for us to try out in this knife. My first choice would be Vanax.

As long as we're wishing, maybe an Urban with 2mm blade stock? But yeah, I would love to see more Urban sprints. It's an amazingly handy little knife that's legal so many places and just does damn near everything I need it to. I'd love to see a salt version in LC200N with a nice, bright yellow handle.

I wonder whether there is a feasible demand for more steel options in these markets that require a non-locking small blade. For everyone else, there's the Dfly2, no?

I actually much prefer the Urban to the Dragonfly. The Dragonfly is just small enough that the ergos don't work well for me. Cutting something like cardboard I have to really concentrate on holding the knife steady, rather than just making the cut. The Urban is just enough bigger and broader in the handle that it works well for me even when cutting fairly tough media.

I see, I've never held an urban I just assumed it was as small as the dragonfly. Also I would never use a Dragonfly for cardboard, I actually am very gentle to mine because I like keeping it razor sharp for tape, threads, etc. I usually pair it with something heftier like a PM2 or Manix if I'm doing work. Delica if I'm just on personal time.

I highly recommend one! It's just enough bigger than the Dragonfly the it accommodates a full 4-finger grip even for me (XXL gloves), but it's still a nice, lightweight, nonthreatening little blade.

I use the 2 knife method as well, these days. Gives a lot of options!

I beat the heck out of my Urban in K390 and it just keeps laughing at whatever I throw at it. I absolutely love the steel, grind, and HT. I cut 26 boxes of very dirty cardboard into small deck of cards sized pieces and the edge was still sharp afterwards. Only steel I've gotten that kind of performance with is Maxamet. It's a killer steel and should be used more. At $80 it's the best performance for price knife I have.

The Urban with its 2.6" blade is just about right for a pocket knife. I can actually grip it very well, even with my XXL glove hands.

The ULW has been made with other steels in the past, including Elmax. Unfortunately, this was a special run for some organization or forum (I have forgotten which). I would love to see Vanax (better than LC200N?) and Elmax, plus a host of other steels in Sprints and exclusives that I can actually buy. Maxamet would be cool, as well.

They don't even exist and are already on my must buy list. Thanks.

The Elmax was made for British Blades. Picked one up to replace my K390 for carrying in wet and saltwater environments.

I'm spoiled by the ZDP-189 dragonfly. boxcutters wish they were my DF2.

I have the DF2 in zdp189 and urban in K390 and Elmax. All three are great knives. For my typical knife uses (zip ties and carry in a wet environment) the Elmax seems like my best choice. Would love to see CTS-XHP and M390 sprint runs.
