This weekend I had to do some routine maintenance around the house, and again found that these knives are definitely worth having around. I had to re-paint the porch railing, which involved removal of the old chipping and peeling paint. Rather than mess with an old flimsy utility razor or the like, I reached for an 18" Kumar Kobra
! The Kobra did a great job getting rid of the unwanted paint, and, while scraping, I found a rotted upright that I just HAD to remove
. Funny how you're looking for something to demolish when a Khuk is in hand!
My karda and chakma also see regular use as well. I was framing some pictures yesterday, and needed to set the framers points into the back of the frame to secure the picture/glass combo, and the karda from my AK worked just right.
Justifying the Bowie to my wife has been a little more difficult than the Khuks. I use it more for inside stuff (kitchen use, etc.) but it hasn't seen a whole lot of action recently. Yesterday, I was repairing some wallpaper, and putting up some plastic corner guards to protect the wallpaper. The Bowie worked great for trimming the paper, and "stuffing" it under the trim. It also worked well to cut the plastic corner guards. I just put the guard along the edge of my cutting board, placed the knife on top of it, the whacked the spine of the knife with another cutting board. The Bowie didn't even blink at this, not even suffering a mar to the spine. My wife laughed at me cutting wallpaper with an almost 3 pound knife, but hey, why not?
Take it easy guys, sorry for the rambling...
