We often have posts here asking for help in ID ing some wood. Have done so my self. Here's a lil game.

Eleven different Cowboy Toothpicks I made for a special order. The customer was wanting one for each of his grandkids. He requested that they be handled in wood. Purely coinkadink but I happened to have exactly eleven different woods in the shop. I'll buy a cup of coffee (next time I see ya) to the first that guesses all eleven correctly. From left to right #1 to #11:

Nope on #1, #4, #6 and #11. Close on #9.

Is 1 Bastonge walnut, 11 is black walnut
No sir #1 is not. However, #11 is indeed black walnut left over from a shelving project.

Bloodwood for #4?
No sir.

Here's the list;

#1) Turkish Walnut, (rifle stock cut offs from Butch Searcy at The All American Double Rifle Co).

#2) Desert Ironwood, (purchased).

#3) Oak, (I call it historic oak as its repurposed from a board from a barn in MO that was built in the 1800s).

#4) Cocobolo, (the last of my pre CITES treaty stash, of this, one of my favorite woods. We ship a lot internationally so I haven't purchased anymore since then).

#5) Bocote, (from a board given to me by some Hacienda style furniture store owners. It was given to them by one of their furniture makers. They didn't know what it was but I did soon as i cut into it).

#6 Sonokeling Rosewood, (from a board found by my brother in our dad's old barn years after he passed away. ID ed with help from Ben).

#7 Bubinga, (given to me by a customer in AK. Left overs from a cabinetry project).

#8) Mesquite, (also from a board from the Hacienda style furniture store owners).

#9) Wild Cherry, (harvested by a friend and great customer in AR and sent to me years ago).

#10) Osage Orange, (sent to me by a BF member in KS some years back).

#11) Black Walnut, (left over from a shelving project we did here at the house).

Hope it was a lil fun with your morning cup of joe.
