Yup,I was surprised to see these guys poping up behind the shop where I work, but considering where they are located I decided not to eat 'em fearing an industrial disease.
:barf:
We're too close to the Duwamish River & the Transfer Station in South Seattle. Not to mention Highway 509 just over the fence.(South Park neighborhood)
I haven't found any this big in my usual hunting grounds on the East slopes of the Cascades so I was amazed at how big they are & how early they came up.I usually find them in my camping area in mid may through early june.
Here's the bigger ones posing with my work knife, the JK XL Friction Folder.
JKFFXL meats Morel XL.
And with an Opi. #9 & Cohlgans #7.
These Cottonwoods were cut down last year & I believe the tree removal people brought the spores with them as I'd not seen any Morels back there in the 8 years I've worked there.
The First Ave Bridge is just up the highway for anyone that knows the Seattle area.
Lets see some Morel pics folks, surely someone else has harvested some this spring.?
