THis is a unique little town. On a return from Port Angles Wa. we stopped there for food & a stretch. After having a fabulous meal at fastfood ptices we visited a variety shop nexr door. The owner met us spouting cowboy poetry & the ladies enjoyed it & bought several small booklets that he claimed he had written.Interesting items on display but they were too pricey & it was terminal boredom for me while wife & aunt shopped. After reminding them our Quadcab Dodge only had an eight foot bed,I headed outside for a smoke. This slick salesman headed me off & asked if I carried. Told him yes. He asked just to see my knife. Now it's a XX Case army wireman's knife over 50 years old.He whipped out a horseshoe shaped piece of plastic about 2 & 1/2 inches overall with a slivver of metal between the open end of the hooves. Took that sucker across that cheap blade a couple of times & handed it back with a smile . Man, I dry shaved a patch of wrist hair in 2 strokes, I had several singles in my wallet & bought 3 @ a buck each. The strips were carbide steel & on a quality blade they really excel.
Morgan is a dying silver mining town & the store name was K & R . I want several more of these for my fishing friends but don't know how to contact this store other than calling USPO for the PO there & work from that. Utah State webpage was no help. Imagine the PO'll balk at divulging his address too.

Any bright folks help an old man ?

Join the 21st Century -- learn to search the web! I only have a couple of minutes to spare right now and I'm not having much luck finding K&R, but I found http://www.ogdencvb.org/Morgan/mservice.htm -- call the Morgan County & City Offices (801) 829-6811 and whoever answers the phone will surely be able to tell you -- in a town of 2,000 everybody knows all the stores.

there are many sharpening products on the market that uses strips of hard abrasives pre-set at an angle, which sounds like what you bought.

the things I find that are less than great about them are
1) the angle of the bevel, since it's preset, you are likely going to be re-profiling that edge with this new tool at least the first time.
2) the fact that the knife is sharp right after the strokes are likely because of the new micro-serrations on the blade, once they break off, I find the new edge dulls a bit faster than if I take the time to strop it after sharpening it.

so you might want to use the knife for a while and see how the new edge holds up.

also this one has both ceramic and tungsten

XX Case isn't the best grade of steel blade. Evidently I'm just getting a quick-fix but on an extremely old square tipped knife it works very well . This knife is extremely thin & very flexible. I use it to open mail & have never seen an old knife like it keep the razor edge for over 6 months after opening many envelopes daily.
Thanks for the other source.
