Hey girls.. I am great. Nick is still at Drill Sgt School in SC, but doing well. I miss him terribly.. but hanging in there. Going up to see him next Fri-Tues for Labor Day and also to celebrate his B-Day which is on the 1st.

Kimmer.

Hey Mrs. grunt,
I live in Columbia so if you have any questions drop me a line. I can't help you much on post but in town I can give you some info.

my e-mail

Thank Mhawg, I am flying in on Friday afternoon and Nick is searching for a nice but reasonable price hotel. What do you suggest we should do or go visit while we have some free time. The Army is not sure if we are relocating there or to Columbus, GA for Nick to be a Drill Sgt.

What part of Columbia are you in?

Thanks
Kimmer aka Mrs. Grunt of Pork :)

Kimmer,
I live within a couple miles of the fort and I used to have occasion to shortcut through there but, as you know, the bases are locked down pretty tight now so us civilians have to go around now. My father is retired military so I do get to go to the PX and the package store sometimes.
I'm not sure what y'all like to do but I'll outline some things that are happening around here.
We have a fine new art museum down town but you just missed the Tutankhamen display.
The Vista has many grown-up bars and resturants, that is it isn't strictly a student activity area and it is concentrated so walking is convenient. This is downtown off of Gervais Street. (Don't be a tourist, it's pronounced jer vay'. Also Huger Street is pronounced hu gee'.) This is a relatively new entertainment area, near the coliseum, and is very popular.
Five Points has a more bohemian atmosphere and is frequented by students and locals (like me). There are many resturants and bars within walking distance.
The Darlington speedway is about 1-1/2 hours away with the big race on Memorial day but it's been sold out for months since NASCAR has decided to move the race to California after this one.
The South Carolina Gamecocks have their first game of the season at home that weekend so the place will be hoppin'.
Thinking of that you might have a hard time finding a hotel anywhere in town but Columbia isn't that big so you might find something easy to get to.
The Bombers, baseball team probably won't have a game in town that weekend but maybe during the week.
There are a few malls to shop at, mainly Columbia Mall which is close to Fort Jackson, Richland Mall, smaller but nice and Columbiana Mall, in Harbison is big and trendy.
There are plenty of churches.
Here's a link to local hotels: Hotels
Here are some more links that might help; Info

If you have any specific questions just e-mail me at optimator@pipeline.com I'll be glad to help.

Awesome ideas..thank you so much.. I am looking forward to a nice weekend. I heard how pretty the downtown area is so I can't wait to see it... Plus love to shop and hang out a fun locales with happening music and such. ;)

Kimmer.......hey there!! Glad to see you popped in to say hello!! We need to get more women on this forum!! We have been very busy here at the shop but I do check in every now and then to make sure all these fellas are behaving themselves.
We all know that someone has to keep an eye on Spearhead!! ;)

It's good to hear that you and Nick are doing well! Please tell him we all say hello!! The next show you guys are able to attend let us know and we will be there! Jen, Shag, and myself heard nothing but goods things about you in Atlanta so we definitely would love to meet you!!

He does post alot of them, but I am the email and instant messenger queen, so beware. I definitely hope we can make a show, if the Army relocates us to GA, the Atlanta show will be about an 1 1/2 hr away. So yippee! The girls can go shopping.... Well headed home to let Jessiedog and Sadiegirl out and talk to Nick later tonight. Everyone be good and stay out of trouble.

BB and Shaggi- have an awesome weekend :)

Yes Kimmer, welcome to the asylum.

Nick said you taught him how to drink. You did a heck of a job from what I saw...LOL.

Hope to see more of your posts as you abuse his INFI while he's gone.

Don't listen to people who want you to sell. INFI should be shared, you know, liek given away...?:p ;)

Whats that I hear under your breath? could it be a snort and oink oink oink? Talk about a pig hiding in sheeps clothing
