I took some shots yesterday morning of the blooms in the pond.
The water hyacinth will only bloom when it runs out of space to grow sideways. They are amazing flowers, and only last a couple days each. The water lilies open each morning and close as soon as the shade gets on them in the afternoon. The lily shot was just as it started opening. There are a bunch of other things that bloom all of a sudden, and I will shoot them later today.

Good thing I shot the hyacinth when i did...they are gone already.
I caught the bromeliads starting to creep out of the stalks.
I also got some new shots of the garden spider by the cactus. She is growing fast. She has a sister on the other side of the deck.

Proving that you don't need a huge area to study nature .A small area can have a very interesting eco-system.
I once saw a huge amount of orb spider webs ,a thousand or thousands .Driving on an interstate, early with dew on all the webs with the rising sun illuminating them .just along the road very easy to see even at highway speeds !

The other day, I was out watering the plants and the garden spider had caught an insect. I got my camera, and shot her as she wrapped it in silk. The spinnerets are extended and clearly visible.
