Every morning I go through this routine:

Hand on my left back pocket checking for wallet

hand on belt checkin' for cell phone

Hand on front right belt loop- keys

hand on left front pocket- knife

Who else goes through a similar ritual?

I thought of this thread when I read another thread about someone losing their knife.

Every time I go anywhere, I go through this routine..FWIW, I very very rarely lose stuff :D

Of course, I realize I probably just jinxed myself...:o

Guilty:o (especially when leaving a movie theater)

Back left - wallet (attatched to chain that leads to left front loop)
back right - phone, I take it out when i sit down
front right - 3-4'' tactical folder, Bradley Alias I currently, sometimes and Al Mar Eagle ultralight or 943.
front left - lighter
front right watch pocket above right pocket - classic sd alox SAK attatched to grey paracord 550 that attached directly to my belt

Back left - wallet
Back right - House/Car keys
Front left - Cell phone
Front right - Zt 0200
Right wrist - Watch

Back left-Wallet
Back right-small backup folder
Front left- cell phone
Front right- main knife for the day (varies-usually my small Insingo or a Spyderco/Kershaw)
Back right belt loop- Keys on a carabiner clip
Check for all of 'em when I go from place to place.

I too do the pocket check when I go to leave the house.
Right front- lighter in bottom of pocket,SAK hanging from belt loop midway into pocket, Para2 or other EDC clipped near side seam.
Right back-wallet
Left front-keys on chain hanging from belt(chain is long enough to unlock doors without detachment), change in bottom( a specific amount )
Left back-empty unless I am outdoors then sometimes a back pocket sheath for my Izula/Scrapivore
Cell phone in a pouch over left back pocket with chain to front left side belt loop.
I aways worried I was the only one that did this:(

Wallet-back left
Small folder- back right
Front right-case trapper or large stockman
Belt strong side-Buck110
Coat pocket-small fixed blade of the day

Back Right - Wallet
Front Right - cell phone
Front Left - Keys
Front Right - Knife belongs here, but 5 of 7 days a week I can't carry this because I have school. I put one in right when I get home and take it OUT in the morning....

Same exact routine as you, Ono. One thing that is definitely a ritual is my knife going in my RF pocket before I even put my belt on. :D

Hand on my left front pocket- wallet

hand on right front pocket- cell phone

Hand on front right belt loop- keys

hand on right front pocket- knife

hand on left back pocket- cigarette case

Pretty similar

Right front pocket = Cellphone (unless the pants have a cellphone pocket)
Left Front pocket = Keys clipped to inside of pocket with carabiner. This way they can't fall out, and don't bunch up at the bottom of my pocket.
Right rear = Knife, clipped

I never carry my wallet *gasp*. That prevents me from worrying about loosing it, and prevents me from making rash purchases at vending machines and the like (I walk to campus, so no driving. When I do drive, the wallet stays in the glovebox).

Nice to see I'm not the only one who does this. I've great long term memory (comes with the territory of being a bio student), but my short term memory is absolute garbage, hence why I had to come up with this system to stop losing things.

Basically:

Left pocket = Cell phone, Zippo lighter
Right pocket = Knife (clipped onto pocket), keys (on single keyring attached to lanyard), MP3 player
Back right = wallet
Back left = nothing

Quick pat on my three pockets every time I get up/go somewhere to make sure I left nothing behind.

Yep I always check before I leave the house.
Left front - keys, chap stick
Left rear - wallet
Right front - cell phone, tactical folder (clipped to pocket)
Right front lower pocket - fenix flashlight
IWB right rear - Walther, Glock, Smith or Kahr 9mm (depending on the temperature and where I'm going)

Me too. I never close the door to the house unless I got thru my patdown ritual. I keep my eyes in my hand for visual ID. Same for when I get out of my truck. I routinely do the patdown thruout the day. I seem to be one of the few people who have never locked themselves out of a home or auto. I've also never lost a wallet, knife, or cell phone. semi-paranoidal ocd ftw!

I always check formy wallet before filling the gas tank. I once filled the tank and discovered I'd left my wallet at home. Good thing it happened at the corner gas station where they knew me. I also check for keys before locking the door.

I do a gear check on my self when leaving any vehicle or building. Only way to cut it down is having pockets with very good closure, then just check the closure instead of the contents of the pocket.

If people don't check or do a quick pat down they have had a very lucky life so far!

my morning ritual.

left hand/side;
back pocket for wallet, sometimes i'll have a light clipped on the backpocket next to my wallet
front pocket is the SAK/keys

right hand/side;
check cell phone in backpocket, badge on front belt loop, light in 5th pocket, and my ZT0551 clipped.

I not only make sure i have my wallet, i open it to make sure all my cards are there and to check how much cash is in there.......my wife to be will pull cash out from time to time. ok all the time....:p
