I'm sure Mors could do more with those simple little knives than a lot of people can with their 10" pry-bar, half-serrated, "extreme" survival knives...

I like him, but He was unfair with the Opinel, one the best folder ergonomics knife out there for the money "after all it locks". I been used Opinel for more than 20 years, Great knife for what it is. About the Bushcraft knife we can argue all the day long, but for me a bushcraft knife ain't a survival knife. Bushcraft knife to become a survival knife you need to bring it along with an hatchet (combo), stated by Mors Kochanski himself many times. I own 6 custom bushcraft knives from different makers. All those knives they don't do nothing that my Condor bushlore can't do, to be fair. When you have ergonomics, money should not count neither.

A very good point, indeed. Opinels are well proven. I don't baton with a knife so a technique that I am very fond of is a knife (fixed or folder or both) backed with a hatchet or tomahawk. The proven Nessie Trio. Also to be fair, my fixed blade gets the least use. What I can't do with a hatchet or hawk, I do with a folder. My folding knife of choice and I have many, but the first I would grab would be a SAK or multiblade traditional. I'm very fond of the Schatt and Morgan Heritage Woodsman right now.

Good to hear. I've been thinking about picking one up someday.

They're great and you won't regret it. I've had mine for 6 months now. I have a soft spot for Barlows too.

I think anyone can. My Dad has always carried small folders hunting now for over 40 years. Right now he carries a Kershaw Scallion. It's all about what we put into it.

Actually the person that really made me think that smaller knives were practical, was pitdog on this site. Later I got into Mors etc. out of personal interest.

I wish he gave more specifics on the two gas station/hardware store knives. The one German made hardware one looks like a Barlow (single blade?) The other (the one he bends and tries to illustrate how it pulls apart) has a bail. Maybe an Imperial Camp King?
