ok so where do guys get all your stuff?

i'm a big fan of stainless and copper... not so mucht he brass i'm worried about
thanks in advance

I get mine from ACE hardware, also a local hobby shop that does alot of model railroad stuff.Dave:)

Hobby Lobby, Lowes, Menards, Welding supply stores and even Tractor Supply(TSC). Stainless is harder to come by but can be found. Lots of copper and brass rods in various sizes.

Does your supplier list there include tubing and non-round stuff (triangles, flats, etc) as well?

Nah...sorry to say the only one of them that has those types of things in that list is Hobby Lobby and I don't believe I have ever seen stainless there.

In jantz supplies new catalog they have a bunch of new ready made pins. They are pretty creative. more expenive but nice.

Heck, I'm not limiting myself to stainless (though it would be nice for a few ideas I have).

But that takes all the fun out of it! As for being more expensive...I sincerely doubt that...I screw up everything new I try at least 3 or 4 times, plus I need to buy the tools! I bet my first 12" of good mosaic pin will end up costing a couple hundred bucks :D

Man, you think THAT"S funny. Wait'll I figure out how much the first knife to come out of my new shop building is worth...I guarantee it'll be in the same price range as a nice Moran :)

Any pointers to info on mosaic pin making? I've read a thread or two here and there, but all my brain says is "get the stuff fit inside the tube right and pump in epoxy". Something tells me it's a little harder than that...

It's easy. Suck - blow is only an expression. Use a syringe, brake bleeder or vacuum pump to suck the epoxy into the tube.

There it is. The great secret.

Rob!

i heard a good trick is to take a piece of plastic tube that fits over the outer tube and use the whole deal like a straw to suck the epoxy up through.
make sure ya got enough tube so you have some room to stop before you're eating the stuff though
