WARNING
Hi Guys; I just started to make some mosaic pins and went to a number of different tutorials before doing so to get some ideas.
What I read really gives me cause for concern regarding some of you using Lung Power to draw the epoxy up the tube.
This stuff will Fry your brain like you could not believe.
I have been a Cop for over 24 years and have seen more glue sniffers with that vacant stare than you could imagine.
The type of epoxies used for pins is very toxic. READ the warning lable, it dosn't say use in a well ventilated area for nothing !
You may think that it is harmless to just make a few pins every now and then but the effects of this stuff is cumulative and PERMANENT !
Think about it. We use every type of respirator,air-filtration, and exhaust device known to rid our shops of nasty breathable toxins yet we act, (as Willy Nelson said in Rhinestone Cowboy) "like a Keno girl trying to suck the chrome off a trailer-hitch". just to make a pretty pin.
Please, if you are not happy with pouring the epoxy down the tube get an aquarium pump at a garage sale or second hand shop to do the dirty work.
My motive for this post is purely selfish. When it comes to knifemaking I love picking your brains with my questions and for all the great tips you leave here. That all ends if you turn your brains to mush.
O.K. I'm putting my soap-box away.
Thanks for letting me voice my cooncern.
