So I decided to try some pins.... the first couple, brass and steel, black epoxy, turned out ok but you must remember when making these without a vacuum, remember which end of the straw you are putting in your mouth :yuck: ... Of course I had to try it again and this time I found a large syringe with a length of tubing. So $40 worth of brass, steel and copper later... Kind of fun, I suspect I will be making a bunch of these.

Look good for the first round, filling getting them filled is the pain in the neck,if there solid all the way through with epoxy your the man!

I did buy a wide array of brass, copper and steel rod in various sizes.. hehe. I also coloured the star and the square, they were supposed to be red but didnt seem to turn out. I hope the colour will come out as they get more polished. I do have glow paste as well but I need to experiment with that before I make some pins with it. Of course, I was going to buy some (a lot) resin and colours from resinobsession.com but restrained myself and stayed with the fiberglass resin and some hobby paint I already own.

Just thought I would post a pic or two of my sophisticated system for mosaic pins :-D. I use fiberglass resin and acrylic hobby paints and then just place the pin in a hole drilled in some wood. I should coat the wood with something though, to make it easier to take the pins out.

I really like that latest one! it reminds me of the face of the bolt (not sure if I am using the correct term) of an AR-15 for some reason.

I picked up some SS tube this week, so hopefully I can get some more pins done this weekend. I could only find 1/4 and 3/16 though, noone seems to have 1/8.. Oh.. as for my socks... at least the colour would distract from the holes :-)
