How strong are the custom shops mosaic pins compared the more common hollow tube fasteners; are they suitable for users? Does anyone have a pic that shows how they seat together?

I can't say about the mosaic pins... but I have bent the brass handle tubes so the slabs no longer fit flush.

Yes... this takes severe beating.

Mosaic pins may very likely be more durable... Only one way to find out though. Beat it like a government mule.

Mosaic pins are usually stainless tubes with other pieces inside set in epoxy so it should be pretty tough. Of course it would probably be better if someone from Busse responded. Then again if it were to have an issue they would fix it.

Personal experience has shown me that they do not handle the shock and vibration from chopping very well. The standard tube fasteners are the best for this. I have a few knives with mosaic pins and their duties are best served as general cutting and slicing, no heavy work.

I'm not a fan. I took the slabs off of a blade with mosaic pins using a screwdriver.....

Anyhow. The blade itself was awesome. Just rehandled it and everything was peachy

Are you guys that are re-handling your knives reusing the hollow pins? Using new ones? Where are you getting the pins? And what do you set them with?
