Mosaic Pins

Howdy There....!
Not exactly sure what you mean by "sand them up cleanly" statement. Are you concerned about grinding them flush with the handle material? Later...!

Possum,
Yup, sorry I wasn't more clear. After I get them flush with the handle material, brassdust(?) keeps moving around and not giving me a nice looking pin.

'Bama,
I don't want to come across as a wise guy but did you use epoxy in the pins? Did you use a colorant in the epoxy?

Will, just rough grind them to within about 1/16" of finished then take them on down with a 400 grit or finer belt to finished size. Hand sand the handles and then just buff them and the pins. If you don't want to buff the handles, tape them up good and just buff the pins. Thats how I do it. Sometimes you'll hit an air pocket where the epoxy didn't fill completely. Just clean the area good, I use alcohol, and mix up a small portion of the epoxy and pigment and push it into the hole, I use popsicle sticks for that.

CL,
Yup....I did use pigment in the epoxy. LOL I'm asking these questions here hoping for a wise guy, well at least a wiser guy than myself.

After grinding the pins flush on the belt grinder, I use 400 grit wet paper on a hard sanding pad, being careful to sand just the pin. I use soapy water as the lubricant.
Ammonia or mineral spirits on a cotton rag should remove the brass dust.
