i want to try to make my own mosaic pins but i am not sure where to look to get the materials for the inside of the tube...anyone else out there know where to look? brass, NS...copper...anything?

Hey bilbo..

Try a hobby shop,, like RC cars type of store..Some of the bigger ones sell all different types of tubing of different shapes and sizes...

That would be your best bet probably...

You would probably get more responces in the Makers -> shop talk forum.

I have found it in an Ace hardware store. Brass tubing in 1 ft lengths in various shapes. Round tube, square tube, solid round, etc. You can also use other stuff such as steel and aluminum welding rod, stainless steel safety wire, just about anything you can find that is metal, straight and fits inside a piece of tubing. I have heard of some people coloring epoxy and using a syringe to suck it up thru all the crevices so that there is some color added in. Check out shop talk and maybe try a search such as this one

Good luck!

The guys in here will know some other sources, but Normark gave you a great start.

The local Sears hardware departments all have a little rack of various sizes and shapes of brass, SS, and copper.
