Mose Allison RIP

Mose Allsion died Tuesday, Hilton Head Island, SC. He was 89. Good obits in the LA Times and Guardian, a wacky one in Jewish Daily Forward, "The Secret Jewish History of Mose Allison" — he could have used that for an album title! — and a scholarly one in Counterpunch listing twenty two other great musicians who passed on this year. Mose attributed his longevity to not smoking, seldom drinking, riding a stationary bike at home and swimming in pools whenever possible on the road. His last album was recorded in a California nightclub in 2005.
