So despite having a lot of different knives, I have always thought the Cutlass was just the most awesome thing ever.

Now the Moses Bowie is making me think long and hard about that.

The only way to be sure will be to take them out for multiple test drives :)

But until then, here are photos!!

I changed the Moses handle... I used old school thick Camillus scales, a liner, and a ranger band. Sooo perfect. Better than the Tooj handle, which don't get me wrong I do love.

Here's a non scientific size comparison... They are pretty close.

Glamor Moses shot.

For just over second I thought the Cutlass would fit in the Moses sheath and I about lost my mind, since this would be a massive improvement in the Cutlass usability... But not quite :(. So close, but yet so far.

Random pics just because. Enjoy! And I can't help but think that for the budget collector, you can get a Cutlass Machete, Grass Machete, Kuhkri, and Warthog from KA-BAR for what you get from this bundle. There's no losers, only winners whichever choice you make.

So who has the edge? Which do you prefer? Does one do certain tasks better than the other? Great pictures.

If anyone knows how is the tang is it full rat tail or partial tang?

If it's not full tang how far back does the tang extend in the handle?

I believe It runs all the way back to the lanyard ring. If you drill out the lanyard you should be able to slide thd handle off.

Now you got me wanting the 1248 Cutlass to go along with my 1249 Kukri. Id like to do a side by side with those two.

Too soon to tell, OKB, I've only used the Moses a few times. The Cutlass is magic and always felt like perfection in the hand. The Moses feels so nice though. Looking forward to getting more time with it.

BRL If you PM me your address I will mail you my 1249 Kukri for a 3 some test. Just pass it around to a Krew member or a Beckerhead when your done. I trust in Karma and some year it will make its way back to me.

Tanker, that's an awesome suggestion and offer, I appreciate it so much, but I probably shouldn't take you up on it. With my lifestyle it's going to be very hard to get dirt time; your kuk would sit on the table unused, I can almost guarantee. Thanks so much though.

Not a problem BRL The offer stands if ya change your mind. Its a welcome back gesture. I don't know you but the Mossyback Beckerheads hold you in high regard:thumbsup: Awesome pics by the way keep em coming.

Tanker - I have a better idea.
since you have time to get outside and hack things up with your knives, why don't I send you my 1248 for some comparison testing with your 1249.
when you're done playing with it, send it back.
