I am just bragging a bit here...I was out in the shop, putting a final edge on one of my knives. As I was walking out, a mosquito flew in front of me and just hovered there for a bit. I just flicked my wrist at it and...wait for it... it fell to the ground in two pieces and I saw one of it's wings go fluttering to the ground! I try that occasionally with different flies, wasps, and other flying buggers that hang out around my shop, but I have never actually made contact before. I kinda feel like a ninja or something. It may never happen again, so I had to tell someone. I told my wife but she was not as impressed with her husband's impressive bug slaying skills as she should have been.

Cooooool

That's more impressive than splitting hairs.

BTW, pics or it didn't happen. lol

I did this a month or so ago with a USMC Ka-Bar I had sharpened to hair popping sharp.... the fly never knew what hit him... clean cut right in half:)
And that's no BS... Probly will never be able to do that again.

Fumbler, I would love to provide pics, but you have never seen the floor of my shop. Both little halves fell into the 6 weeks of dirt and dust that are on the floor. I doubt i would be able to find him again.

Very cool!!
I picked up this beauty off of the exchange
and I have used it but have not sliced any insects yet.:)

Sounds like my shop, lol

Hey, I'm impressed! Want to come down to Texas and further test it? Got some heavy rain after very little for several months prior, and now the standing water has swarms of voracious bloodsuckers the size of horseflies making it difficult to work outside.

That is some Karate Kid stuff there. I have tried many times as well and never any luck with the edge.

Matt, when you post the knife for sale, you should mention the mosquito murder. Better yet, maybe call it the mosquito slicer or something... "So sharp it can slice a flying mosquito in two without it knowing". It's got infomercial potential written all over it.

The only thing better would have been the mesquito kept flying............but was no longer aqble to reproduce.:D

At the right time of year that trick wouldn't have been hard here. Sometimes the mosquitos are so thick I am sure a swing through the sawrm would take out a dozen or more in one swoop.
I hear them outside the shop saying, " Should we rush in and suck out all his blood here, ... or take him home and eat him leisurely?"
