Mossberg Cruiser 410

Mossbergs are great, the marines use the 500/590 as a combat shotgun because it flawlessly feeds any type of shell you can put through the tube. Not to mention the action itself is extremely durable. If you do your shopping right you should be able to find them VERY cheap.

if the 410 represents the chambering id say no.

the 410 is less effective, smaller pattern, fewer loadings and more expensive. its a handicap you shouldnt bother dealing with.

Gotta agree with Wyatt. Unless you are facing some sort of physical limitations that prevent you from using a 12 or at least a 20 guage, the .410 is not a terribly great choice for either SD or hunting.

If you’re talking the Cruiser with the pistol grip only and no full stock, you’ve got double fail. .410 and a pistol grip.

.410 is fun for rabbits and squirrels, but even for those I’d step up to a 20 ga. Mossberg shotguns have been great in my experience. I’ve owned several.

Love the .410 shotgun, not crazy about any pistol grip shotgun.

I think to give you a honest opinion, everyone here needs to know what you intend to use it for. Is it for self defense? or foraging and woodswalking? My opinion would change depending on your answer.

I concur with Adamam04 and jds1...if it is pistol grip only then you're in for a world of trouble...you need a full butt stock! It is fine with a pistol grip integrated into the butt stock but you need the full butt stock for both hunting and SD against two or four legged predators.

Mossbergs are great, But I have never had much use for 410. 12 is more useful IMO. and easier to find ammo. Wal-mart always has sales on 12 gauge shells on sale.

I got this one. Loved the gun, but hated the stock... switched to a conventional and never looked back.

Ha! I did the exact opposite. Purchased mine with a nice laminated stock and replaced it with the funkly composite stock...too bad we weren't able to make a swap.

The only .410 I have is my M6 Scout (.22/.410). I like it, but it's a very limited niche round IMHO. Slugs don't pattern with any consistency, but the OO buck and birdshot rounds are good for small game at (very) close range.

If you're looking for self-defense, I would stongly consider at least 20 guage and better yet, 12 gauge. That little single shot H&R "Tamer" in 20ga is a sweet deal for a serious back-country tool. It really depends on what your requirements are, but as neat as that .410 Mossberg is, it's just not a serious defensive tool or a very viable game getting tool. About the only good would be a boat gun for snakes.

I love my 12 ga. Mossy WITH the pistol grip. I put on a factory heat shield and and side plate that holds 5 shells. I like shooting that configuration. I'd never get even a 20 ga. let alone a .410. What's the point? Go with the 12, it's a universal size and very easy to get ammo for.

It will go great with your frilly pink dress.

Get a 20 gauge instead. You don't need a 12 for close range.

.410 is good for shooting rats inside your trailer and scaring people who are breaking into your car, but it isn't very good for much else.

Yeah, but it makes a great squirrel gun.... just sayin'.:D

skip the .410 Mossberg and get a 12 ga Remington 870, its a far better scattergun
