For $20 a national chain, this is an impressive knife, huge and quite sharp. The blade is thick, too. There are imperfections of workmanship around the handle and guard, but nothing too disconcerting. There is a generous choil, so that even this heavy knife might function decently for bushcraft details. The stag handles are surely plastic, but well done. The leather sheath is quite tough and good. All in all, for the price, I am pleased. Has anyone else purchased this knife?

That wasn't my intention at all. I was really just asking if anyone else had thoughts on this largely impressive but somewhat mysterious inexpensive knife.

It's the somewhat mysterious part that would concern me. Sometimes you can get tremendous value in a deal. Sometimes cheap is just cheap.
A 10" bladed knife, in that price range that comes with leather sheath, and no mention of the type of steel used in the description....
Let me put it this way, something's gotta give somewhere. you don't get nuttin' fer nuttin'.

That said, i have no personal experience with it. But I pass on any knife where they don't say what the steel is. Especially at WM, and super-especailly (it's a thing, look it up) when it's a big honkin' chunk of metal for very very cheap.

Don't matter. Them's the rules. You need to edit the WallyWorld link out.

Done. Sorry for inadvertently breaking the rules.

No harm no foul, but future reference, it's always a good idea to KNOW the basic rules of anything you do before doing it.

This^
Granted it's made in China, much cheaper, but stateside the slab of unworked steel alone that size in something like 1095 would cost roughly around $10 in bulk order. ($20-30 if I would try to buy a single slab for myself).
Add in work, HT, handle, finishing, leather (leather work), shipping, etc...
Could it be done in China? Maybe? But I know even a 7" Schrade in 1095 with a cheap nylon sheath costs $30

Like 3ben said, something's gotta give, somewhere...

I hope you got the deal of the century, but my experiences have taught me, too good to be true, usually is, too good to be true.

I see that one all the time and while it looks kinda cool it's really just something to mess around with. the last time I was there ( the same old story ) some kid was trying to get his mom to let him buy what he thought was this super awesome big Bowie knife, telling her that he could use it for camping and she just wouldn't go for it. If you wanna know if it's any good just wait till a tree around your house needs some trimming, then go out with some gloves on and start hacking away.

i bought mine for 19.99 in 2016 at that store to and its now 2020 the only thing about the knife that has given me trouble whatsoever is the snap rings to keep it sheathed, the blade is tight in the handle after 4 years its sharp after 4 years with a single 4 run trip through my s----'s electric belt sharpened also bought at that store and its like the day i bought it and my back yard is a southeastern connecticut jungle. that said, i don't care who or what is said about these "cheap" bowies, mine has been through the ringer and its still standing so

Personally, I wouldn't touch a $20 knife with well, a twenty dollar bill.

Actually I take that back: if say, I had gone fishing and left my knife at home and needed something to cut bait, I'd buy it.

Meh, go out and use it. If you decide you don’t like it you’ll have gained $20.00 worth of knowledge. If you decide you like it and break it, you’ll have gained $20.00 worth of knowledge AND you’ll know you need a better made version of it. If you decide you like it and you don’t break it; then you got yourself a fine deal for your needs.
