I am looking for some advice on a durable finish for a large fiel knife. Some say KG Gunkote but i am looking for any other input the forum might have.

0170-6C High Carbon Steel

58-59 RC Hardness

:D

Most durable? Probably hard chrome or a PVD coating like DLC/Titanium Carbonitride/Boron Nitride.

Edit: I'm guessing you're looking for more of a spray and bake finish instead of the less accessible plating/vapor coatings. I've heard from a custom gunsmith whose name escapes me at the moment that Ceracote is good stuff. He seemed to think it was a good deal more durable than guncote.

Ummm.....why not just keep it clean and dry? Occasionally, you should wipe it down with food grade mineral oil.
