Most "Gentlemanly": Stainless or Micarta?

I'm almost set on a Spyderco Calypso Jr. for a non-threatening knife I'll be able to take anywhere--unlike my BM 710 or CRKT Kasper. It's under 3", is very solid, and should scare nobody in plain-edge format. The question: which makes for a more "gentleman"-like folder: stainless steel or micarta scales?
Also, if there are any other knives that fit this take-anywhere, non-threatening, dress-up category, I'd like to hear about them. I was thinking Spydie Centofante Jr., but it's twice the price and only comes in G10, which is not as smooth and gentlemanly as micarta or steel.

Thanks,

Shmackey

Definately stainless. You can really dress it up.

Hmm...Any votes for micarta? Apparently the micarta version comes in VG-10 steel instead of AUS-8 and is a flat-grind instead of hollow. I prefer the micarta specs in those two areas.

Yeah, I'll vote for micarta, as long as it's not black, and it's polished.

I carry a full size calypso, the micarta is smooth, lightweight and almost sensual to the touch. It is by far the nicer of the two, not to mention the better steel and grind. IMHO

Be safe,

I have the Calypso and Calypso Jr. I think they are the classiest of the knives that I own.

Micarta is the way to go if your are leaving it plain. Stainless can always be engraved. Check out Brooks Burt's work. Very nice engraving.

IMHO micarta looks dressier and less intimidating, if that is important to you. I have a white Micarta BM Pardue for exactly that reason. The Umfaan is also a good choice and William Henry and even the dressier Cases and old Bokers are pretty good, if you don't need one hand opening.
