I saw the photos of Nick's shop pixie and got the idea to start this thread. Show us photos of you and your personal shop pixie. Without the support of my wife, I don't think I'd be doing this as easily. She supports me so much in the pursuit of my addiction.

I'll start it off. This is my wife and I.

Judy supports my knife work and enjoys watching me have fun. She has allowed (even suggested and encouraged) me to take over two inside rooms, most of the garage, and the two outside shops. Couldn't do it without her love and support.

Those are great pics guys! You done clean up real good Scott :)

Well, Stacy MAY want to rethink that thing around his waist, but that's up to him ;) :p

Naomi and I are just in the beginning stages of anything... but she is the most amazing young woman I've ever been around. She's beautiful, but more importantly, she is kind, caring, sweet, HONEST, appreciative, respectful, loves her family, and she just plain makes me want to be a better man.

I know in my gut that if we get married someday she will be just as supportive as you guys are thanking your wives for being. Any girl I've ever dated thought I spent too much time/focus in the shop. Naomi sends me texts after being on the phone for 30 minutes saying stuff like, "I luv talking to you, but I know you need to get ready for Reno... so stay focused! :) "

I hear that old saying, "Behind every good man is a better woman." Well, I think the woman should be right beside him (if not in front of him pulling him by the ear every now and again, LOL).

Mom and Dad just hit their 35th on the 13th of January. He's kind of a $hit-head when he wants to be, isn't very romantic, but he's one of the best men I have ever known. Mom is a lot like Naomi in regards to her character. One thing's for sure, Mom and Dad wouldn't know how to breathe without the other one.

Great thread Scott :)

Stacy,

The two of you make for a very attractive couple!!!! I must say though, she looks a lot better in a dress than you do. Nice kilt, by the way!

Girlfriends become the wives of the future. This thread isn't about wives, it's about the women that support us, so your posting is absolutely appropriate.

As far as a woman grabbing us by the ear and pulling us along every now and then, my thought is:

It doesn't matter how large our muscles are, because if your lady has a large heart (since the heart is a muscle!) she can be as strong or stronger than you are. The heart is the most important muscle in the body, both for our health and our happiness.

Here is a pic of my wife and I at our wedding in Oct. 06. My wife is the best thing that has happend to me. I am a farm boy and she is a big city army brat that always wanted to be a country girl. We now have the hobby farm that she always wanted. I do all the work on the farm and she has the day job to help pay the bills. I do all the cooking, cleaning, tending our animals (6 chickens, 3 horses, 2 dogs, and 3 cats). I also do all the work selling our art. Yes she is an artist to. She paints, she likes to do nudes of girls. How great is that? There are pics of naked chicks all over my house. She is all the things I am not but should be and I gave her the ability to live out her dreams of having horses. She is much better at the whole money thing than I am. So I give her all my money.

The painting is one she did. If any of you guys want a portrait done(non nude) her prices are very low and she does great work.

Thanks Scott for giving me the chance to brag about my wife. I think we all know that we would be lost without our wives! I know I would be.

My pa once told me, "You don't even realize how lucky you are. You have a wife who loves you so much she goes along with anything you want to do, and all she asks is that she can be part of it. That's precious." He was right.

Here's Nancy and me at Tim Zowada's ca. 1987, as we made our first damascus billet. 100 pounds of rompin' stompin' striker, she swung that sledge for hours. :)

I knew my good friend Fitz wasn't going to pass this thread up.

Thanks for posting the pic of Nanc swing'n that bigg-ass hammer! :D

Steelshaper... I grew up in a small town doing things like bucking hay-bales myself. One thing that sets you apart from most guys around here is admitting to how much you care about your wife. All too often I hear "the old lady" "the ball and chain" my favorite one to hate, "the 'ol sore hole." :grumpy:

It's nice to hear another young guy bragging up his wife... Good on 'ya!

I had to show my wife this thread, she was happy to see how fondly you guys refer to your wives.

Nick, I actually wanted to get away from the farming stuff but oh well:) Its worth it!

It does seem like far to many people these days dont get what a partnership is suposed to be. I hope for your sake you are as lucky as I am. It sounds like Naomi is a great girl, good luck. Everything I do has more meaning now that I am have my Mary.

On a side note Nick, thanks for being such a great inspiration. You remind me that I cant use my age as an excuse for my failures.

My nickname for my wife is "Dollface". One of the neighborhood kids (a ten year old), heard me call her that one time when we were working in the gardens out front. He called her "Dollface" too and got a long talking to by his dad. He hasn't made that mistake again. He now calls her Mrs. Ickes or Ma'am.

She is much better at the whole money thing than I am. So I give her all my money.

I understand this completely. My wife is a genius with money. I gave her everything when we got married. I used to give myself an allowance and always ran out. With her in control of the finances, I've never had to worry about money. She does the financial worrying, but I make sure that I do my best to show her how much I appreciate all the work she does paying bills, managing savings, investments and retirement stuff, etc. She even handles our rental homes.

She once told me the sexiest thing I've ever done for her, was notice how overloaded she was and spent the entire day cleaning the house and doing miscellaneous chores, so that she didn't have to worry about them.

It's easy to see what will make her the happiest. She is one of those highly organized people that makes a task list everyday and then plunges into it. On occasion, I just go look at her task list and start doing some of them, in addition to the stuff that I do.

I agree with the comment about marriage being a partnership. It's about helping one another have a great life together.

My wife is coming down to the Eugene show with me in April, so if you want to meet her, please stop by our table and visit for a while.

I cant let this thread continue without comenting on Mike and Nancy. They are two of the finest people I have ever met. The best part about me making knives is meeting people like the Fitzgeralds and being able to call them friends. I havent had the pleasure of meeting Nick Wheeler yet but I have had more than a few conversations with him and he's right up there with Mike and Nancy.

Okay, back to the smart ass comments.

Michael, we're both quite touched and humbled by your comments. Thanks, my friend! Your friendship honors us, and I am grateful for it. We treasure the fine relationships we have made because of knifemaking.

I agree with the comment about marriage being a partnership. It's about helping one another have a great life together.

That is the crux of marriage, and well stated, for together two can uplift each other more than one can achieve alone. Sometimes it takes awhile to learn that very critical lesson.
Without my wife, I have nothing. With her, I have all I ever need. She is my joy, and my comfort, my encouragement and support, and teaches me to be a better person. Not the least, of course, she swings a mean hammer. :)

I sure do look forward to being able to someday meet you guys in person. This thread is a testament to how careing and great you guys are. I am glad to be a part of this thread. So far The only other knife maker I know is Delbert Ealy. If he finds this thread I am sure he will have something to add.

Mike what you said rings true for me also. I would be lost without my wife. I wish more people understood the joys a great marriage can bring

Okay, I just wanted to post this and this was the best thread.

I should NOT get on her bad side ;) ROFLMAO!!!
