What small brands do you find to be of most interest? Is there a particular model from one of those brands that really stands out to you?

When I say small brands I consider ZT, Emerson, etc to be larger brands and brands like Southern Grind, Spartan, and White River to be smaller brands.

Stone-wood Designs. Almost everything in their catalog either features interesting design cues, or offers a different take on a familiar theme.

Their (his? her?) designs are all similarly themed, though, with a lot of acid washed blades, and stone or metal handles. So if you like one, chances are you'll like them all. But if one is not to your taste, then the rest will probably not do anything for you, either.

Another business I've noticed is Freeman Outdoor Gear, which (I don't think) has any relation to a certain enthusiast for "sinister SD tools" who shows up around here from time to time.

I liked some of Raidops' offerings, but I was never able to get myself to spend the money.

Crusader Forge should always get a shout-out, although they may be a "big company" that just doesn't get a lot of publicity here on Bladeforums.

There's a lot of "small" Japanese brands that aren't very common here but have been making decent knives for generations now. The two I can think of right now are Moki and G. Sakai. [edit: Yes, Moki is actually quite huge as they've been making knives for Spyderco and such, but their own designs aren't very common here]

This is a G. Sakai fixed blade in H1, I've been drooling over this one for some time now.

If im interested in a small 'brand' I will most certainly get it custom made, rather than a production knife.

The custom makers around here are by far the best small brands you can get in my opinion.
