Most lightweight and/or pocket friendly ZT?

I'm itching to get into the Zero Tolerance lineup, but I've got a lower weight tolerance than some after a mostly Spyderco dominated knife career. So what would you recommend in terms of something to ease my way into the revered ZT line of knives? I was thinking the 0566, but I wanted to make sure I had considered everything.
Many thanks, have a good one.

I've gotta go with the 0566, as well. Feels great in hand and I barely notice it in my pocket. Plus it feels just as solid as myy 0550/0551. Although, being as how the lockside is pure stainless steel, it doesn't really cut too much weight. KAI's site lists the 0566 at 5.3 oz, whereas the 0550 weighs in at 5.8. Again, I love beefy knives and weight isn't really ever an issue for me. You may want to look into the limited edition 0770 which has aluminum handle scales. I'm sure that saves some weight.

The 0566 is a great knife, though I would de-assist it if I were you. Even the 0561 is surprisingly light for such a large knife, it's my personal favorite ZT (those bearings are an absolute dream). I don't notice the weight at all, but due to its size alone it's not the sort of knife that you forget is in your pocket, so you may be better off with the 0566. Or, if you can wait for an indeterminate amount of time you could always hold out for the 0562 (basically the same knife as the 0561, just scaled down 10-20% or so).

I've looked into the 0770 and it looks promising, Im just not completely sure about the blade shape. Thanks for the input  I always appreciate hearing people's experiences with their blades. A 0550 is definitely on my list.

I definitely plan on deassisting it. I'm also really stoked for the 0562, the 0561 was always a tad big for my liking (I prefer to keep the handle length under 5" for some reason). I appreciate the input, good to hear that the 566 has people's approval.

770 is probably the most pocketable IMO, the now discontinued 400 was supposed to be really east to carry too. and the Talon model(i don't remember the number) was really slim too.

I own all of these models and fully agree.

Sounds like you have zero tolerance for pocket bricks.

Weight limits on knives is understandable. For example if you carry 9 knives the combined weight might be too much. Or if you wore skinny jeans it might create some back problems making you lean all to the side and stuff. Or if you work in an office, where there is strict policies against any knife that does not have Victorinox in the title. Or if you travel and are in and out of airports, going through security multiple times a day, or have to go to court.

Death to skinny jeans! ^^^

Seriously, though, ZT's in general are still pretty pocket friendly, IMO.

I've gotten to play around with a lot of ZTs, and the one I liked the best was the 0350. It seems to be the classic ZT. Depending on where you put the clip, it can ride pretty low and out of the way. I personally only have a knife and phone in one pocket, so size and weight are NOT a problem for me.. I actually prefer the heavier knives. Good luck though! Check my ZT out on Instagram, @WCEDC

770. A bit smaller and lighter than the 566 with a essentially the same blade length. Both great options.

If you're feeling funky and can find one the 750 is the smaller than each in terms of length and just a hair heavier than the 770. It's just about the size of a Skyline, albeit a little thicker and heavier.

Not if you are a grown man shopping in the children's section. ;)

I buy all my T-shirts at the baby GAP!

Seriously though, I've been thinking about hunting down a 0780 to replace my Skyline for light duty EDC. That way people will know I'm hardcore even when I wear skinny jeans.

I have 550 560 and 566, I would say the 550 for sure. It doesn't have a flipper, which may not make much difference to others but it does to me especially when you want to share that pocket with something else on occasion.

I wasn't sure about the 0770 blade shape either, but after carrying and using it for a while it works very well. It slices good and the tip is sharp and strong. If your on the fence don't let the blade shape steer you away.
