What is the knife you was using for EDC and which is the one you carried for the most long time ? Why did you change ?

For me, it is a small Sebenza I own since 2000. Before, it was a Benchmade CQC7 I was carrying during 3 years. I was looking for a more classic designed knife and the Sebenza maintenance is also easiest…
;)

Mine is a Spyderco Endura bought new in 1991. I probably carried it exclusively for nearly 10 years, before I caught the knifeaholic bug. I still carry it occasionally.

my EDC used to be a small hand crafted SAK my father offered to me when I was 12... and I kept it until 2 months ago then changed it for a new Vnox SAK (a camper), because the pivot of the can opener was not anymore at the right place so that one of the blade could not close completly and it was destroying my pocket almost everytime I had to get it out...
So I've been carrying it for 18 years almost everyday, and it will remain in my collection, as a venerable veteran...
But since I got the "knifeaholic bug" I still carry a SAK but along a small folding blade, usually a Spyderco Native or Meerkat.

Still carring today the same Schrade Uncle Henry stockman that I bought in 1976, so that´s 27 years.

I am not a one man person, I´ve carried a SAK, a Buck 112, a Delica and others, but in addition too, not instead of that stockman. I have some other similar knives, even another stockman of the same model, sometimes I carry a diferent one over the weekend, but my good old 897UH is still the favorite.

I've almost always carried a pocket folder, mostly because my father used to always carry a pocket folder. I've had a number of SAK classics (including one with a bottle opener instead of the rarely used scissors, a major improvement in my book!), but carried a small stainless handled Case "executive" for most of my law school and post law school days. It was a gift from my father and I still have it although it was surprisingly heavy for its size which is why I started carrying one of his old Boker knives (obtained due to his passing, at least I have some of his things as a reminder...) which was nice.

Then I found this place, and well ... suddenly I wanted something a little more "gee whiz", a path I'm still only partly on but it appears to be a slipperly slope ;)

At one time I would change edc's like underwear! And yes I did change my underwear on a regular basis. For close to 6 months I carried nothing but a large ironwood inlaid Sebenza, and this was the longest I had ever carried one knife. The one I carry now I have been carrying since the first of October and I suspect I will be carrying it for quite a while longer.:D :D

Oh yeah, the knife is a large Evolution framelock by John W.:) :) :)

Been carrying the same jigged bone handled Carson nedium model 4 for about 3 years, great knife. Before that it was a Terzuola ATCF for about 2 1/2 years.

Benchmade 690, I've been carrying it for about 2 years. I have others that I'll carry every once in a while but the 690 is usually what I grab. I just started carrying a SAK Officer in my left pocket, I think it's going to be a permanent addition.

I carry a lot of customs as I am not hard on my knives, and being retired carry more than use my knives but the longest I carried a knife which was 4-5 years was a Benchmade Leopard folder(retired, and in my safe) when I was working, and used it every day on my job.
But since then many different knives like I said in rotation but the Strider AR I carry has been with me for a year, and a half, and is the one that always seems to be on my hip in a Gary Graley sheath.
Might say my wife is a knife nut, and LEO, and she has 2 that are always on her also in the last year, and a half, and one is a Strider AR again in a Gary Graley sheath, and a MicroTech LCC D/A, and by the scars on them she uses them, and the only time I get ahold of them is to sharpen them which is once a week cause they are used on her job often.
Like I said I love my customs but there is just something about the Strider AR that just has to be on my side. It is strong, sharp, and tough, and not afraid to use it for what it may be, yes even prying :)
The wife, and I both looked at getting a Strider SNG for it's smaller size but both agree it just does not fit for what we want so stick with the AR,
I do not work for Strider nor am I related to anyone in the organization just like the Strider AR :D
Enough said:)

When I was 17 or 18 I was given a SAK type knife, German made. It was by no means new then. I'm now 45 and have carried that knife most days since I got it. Reckon it's good for another 25 or 30 years anyway. Got more into knives some years ago and have a Spyderco Endura I've been carrying for about the last 7 years. I've got lots of other knives, many much nicer, but that old Endura still gets its share of carry time.

I carried a Benchmade/Boguszewski 640 mini spike for 5 years and now I carry a Benchmade/Osborne 943. I changed because the liner lock up on the mini spike got sloppy and I didn't trust it. I gave up a great knife for an even better knife, the 943 is a beautiful tool, and a great carry.

My EDC has most consistently been my Microtech LCC D/A for the last almost three years. There have been others, and I have one that might edge this one out of top position, but the LCC is still the first one I reach for in the mornings. The new one (had for 3 weeks, now) is a small Sebenza, and I can see that one might actually take over the main EDC place.

As for the reasons for using the LCC, I just love the way the knife looks, the shape of the blade, the hand-filling profile, and the top notch quality. It is a very useful blade shape with lots of straight edge for slicing, and a fine point for detail work. With the width of the blade almost wider than the handle, and the edge being even with the bottom, it becomes a great slicer in the kitchen.

The small Sebenza is much smaller, and easier to carry, but I don't know that it would perform as well in the kitchen as the LCC. It may make it into EDC as a gent's knife, and for away-from-home use. I guess I'll just have two primary EDC's.

I carried a Buck 110 for many, many years, then switched to clip knives. Lately I've been extremely promiscuous, but date mostly my Griptillian and Military. I almost always have my Micra though, so maybe I have a little loyalty left.

I've carried a varient of a basic Boy Scout pocket knife every day for the last 42 years. I started with the basic 4-blade model and within a couple years I upgraded slightly to a model that included a philips head blade. That was replace by the Tinker model SAK which was similar, including a philips head. Subsequently I went to a similar SAK model with a locking blade. About 12 years ago I moved on to a longer equivalent, the Adventurer model with the same blades as the Tinker except longer and with a locking main blade (and missing the pen knife blade). I haven't added or deleted functions for 40 years.

Been carrying the SAK Hiker for 20+ years.

The next longest was the Elishewitz custom for 5 years as a weak side defender.

Louky,I've been carrying a FRN Endura since they were first introduced. They were so new ,in fact, that I had to order straight from the Factory.I still haven't changed.tom.:)

For me it's a Victorinox Soldier for the last 20 years.

About 6 months ago I finally put that thing aside and started carrying a Spyderco Delica but now I'm on a Case Mini Trapper.

I like the Delica but it's a bit too tactical looking and it's not very comfortable for using on fruit. I like eating fruits like apples, peaches etc., one wedge at a time!

So now my EDC is a Case Mini Trapper. It works almost a welll as my Vic Soldier and it's kind of cool looking with the amber bone scales and people don't freak out when they see it.

The Soldier model is still the king!

My oldest EDC would be the Buck model 500 that my Pop gave to me back in 1981. I carried that knife while I was in the Air Force as a crewchief. It went around the world with me. It is now retired with honor. I don't want to take the chance of losing it after it gave me so much joy. Besides that my Pop gave it to me and I can't replace that if I lost it. :D I carried it for approximately 7 years.
