Although I live is a state where most people have sensible attitudes about guns and knives, I also recognize that appearances can be important to LEO's and others in deciding when to make an issue of something.

I presently carry a CG NO-E in my car at all times, slipped down between the driver's seat and the console. I consider this more of an emergency tool to break glass, cut seat belts, cut sheet metal, pry, etc. than a weapon. The Kahr K9 for which I have a CC permit is the weapon.

Given the new choices we are going to have for Busse finishes, the following question occured to me. What would present an overall less threatening, more utilitarian appearance - the black coating or the newer desert coating? I am thinking desert. Any other opinions?

Maybe I am just trying to rationalize an excuse to buy another knife!

In my opinion the Desert coating even on a big knife looks much less threatening than the black

I agree--it doesn't have the "tactical" look but more the "woodsy" look to many sheeple....I'm guessing at least.

I would have to say the tan is less of a threat looking (for lack of a better term),I hate to have to say things like that, they are only tools after all.No more a weapon than antything else in your hand.
