The History Channel program about the west and buffalo hunters - They showed the Russell Green River knife. In the twenty year period between 1840 and 1860 one dealer ordered 5,000 dozen per year !!! I wonder if that is a record for a knife .

I have a funny feeling Wal-Mart buys more than 60,000 of the same type of knife every year.

not for a knife, but for that time and considering the much lower population that is a pretty big number!! When you consider that the west was expanding, populations were much smaller and many knives came from overseas at the time that is a pretty big feat for any cutlery manufacturer of the time!!

Popular knives ?

I´d guess in U.S. Schrade 34OT Middleman, Camillus all steel 4 blade utility, Buck 110 and 119, in Europe SAK, Opinel, Douk Douk.

I would bet that Victorinox and Wenger sell more knives than all other makers combined.

I would definitely vote that SAK are the most popular knives these day. Seems like they can be found all over the world.

kee :)
