Most practical "city" SAK model?

I love my sak farmer, it's a great companion for the woods and I would't change a single thing about it.

Lately I've been curious what the "city" version to it would be as I'm unfamiliar to all of the different sak offerings and combinations. Ideally it would be something in alox, single bladed, flat head, phillips, and I'm not sure what else. Scissors seem redundant to me if you keep your knife sharp but an awl might be handy.

What model do you find most handy for regular day to day life?

Maybe a small tinker? I don't know what all is out there.

For me personally, my "urban" SAK knife would be this vintage Tourist from the 50s. You can do phillips screws with the small screw driver on the can opener and the inside of the caplifter is sharpened for wire stripping. I love the old awl and two blades are a must for me – having a small clip blade instead of a pen blade makes it even better.

84mm 2 layer Sportsman is my choice. The size allows it to fit in the small front pocket of my jeans. The smaller main blade combined with the file works really well for most "city tasks" and the rest of the tools makes for good EDC. If I would go with a model without the back-tools I think a Recruit would be sufficient

Like this?

Basically a PioneerX with the can opener converted to a smaller flat head, large flat, awl and ditched the scissors to make way for an inline Phillips. (having the Phillips inline is really nice and was high on the priority list.) All wrapped up in some snazzy titanium pants... for me, it's the perfect "city sak".

Did you make it or have it made?

Lots of choice.

The 84mm

Victorinox Tourist

Is a good one, its a smaller Spartan.

Also a cadet,Bantam or a vintage soldier.

Which ever you buy there will be a tool you wish you had from another knife,it always happens. 😁
The old voyageur if you can find one.

Not sure what model it is but it’s always in the watch pocket of my jeans. Every thing you need. I’ve probably used the pen the most finally had to replace the cartridge after more than twenty years.
"Signature" model.
same tool set and size as the SD Classic but with a retractable ink pen in place of the toothpick. (The tweezers can be swapped out for the more useable toothpick.)
I had one for 19 years. Traded it (and a Barlow) for a Mini Champ.
(No. The original ink cartridge is still working.)
