Hello all,
My name is Michael Miller. I am a knife-maker in Kingman, AZ. Jim Cooper (THE photographer), recommended that I check out these forums so here I
am. Looks like a neat place to get to know other makers. All of my knives are hand forged from carbon steels - mostly 1095, 1080, 1084, O-1, L-6,
15N20, W-1 and various combinations of the above. My shop is fairly primitive, just the usual basic tools to be found in most bladesmith shops;
forge, anvil, hammers, belt grinder, drill press and band saw, plus a small rolling mill that I built four years ago. I use the mill to roll round bar into flat
stock and to draw out my damascus billets. Below is an example of my most recent work.
Steel: 1084 / 15N20
Blade length: 5 inches
Overall length: 9 1/4 inches
Handle: Elk horn
Hardware: Wrought iron (old anchor chain)
Spacers: Turquoise recon stone
Other examples of my work can be seen in the gallary pages of my website.
Thanks for looking,
Michael
