Buyer's remorse is a hell of a thing, and I just wanted to hear some good stories. Just outta sheer curiosity, what knife purchase have you most regretted?
I'm new here, so I apologize for any infractions of rules or procedures here on the forums. Just give me a polite point in the right direction if I've done anything incorrectly.

Well, its more I regret buying knives at a store at or close to msrp vs buying online at a better price. The only knife I regret buying is a CRKT M16-12z.

I don't need to name the manufacturer, because this is generic to this forum.
I bought a BNIB high-quality(~$200) titanium/S30v blade-steel, half-serrated folder with intent to gift it. Later changed my mind.
Tried to sell this brand new knife...finally did for $140...after a month of trying.
A half-serrated knife is fine to use...just don't expect to sell one easily here.
Welcome to the forum.

Welcome Navyblu I have purchased many knives over the years, some I like better than others, glade to say I have never regretetted a purchase. More often than not I have regretted selling a knife.

I sincerely regret buying my GEC Tidioute Sheepfoot Barlow. I bought it because I was getting into traditionals, I like smooth ivory bone, and I like barlows. I have never liked 1095 (sorry EVERYONE on this forum), but I thought "hey, it'll patina and be cool". Well, it came. It is a very aesthetically pleasing knife, but I don't buy knives purely for looks (I want use). It had literally no edge. So I tried to put one on it with ceramic rods. Took forever so I took it to a professional sharpener, he said he didn't wanna do it and I should send it in. Well I called and they said to send it in but since I tried to sharpen it I would probably have to pay (for their mistake). I literally haven't had time to get to a post office yet. Basically I have a knife with outdated materials and no edge that I could have used the money ($82 before sending it in to sharpen) from to buy an EXTREMELY high quality modern folder (think g10 and s30v) or fixed blade or like 10 high value traditionals (which I wouldn't be afraid to use and sharpen). But it sure is pretty! hopefully I can sell it for a reasonable price.

Welcome Navyblu! I see you are from the great state of Texas! Any plans to buy an automatic knife soon? (now that they are legal there?)

The only knife so far i ever regret buying was a KaBar TDI folder, what a P. O. S. that thing was. The liner lock would bend with just a little pressure. Never felt safe using it. (it never slipped off though)

Everything made in China or Pakistan BEFORE I bought good knives. My first quality knife was a Camillus Heat, I don't regret it, but I should've bought a satin finish plain edge rather than a combo black blade. Still the knive served me for years and still will.

Other than that, every knife I didn't really like I was able to trade. Thanks BF :)

The only reason to regret a "bad buy" is if you don't learn anything from it and continue to do it.

They are all learning experiences, man. No regrets.

The first good one! Where did all my money go!
(It was an endura, great knife)

I don't have buyers remorse per se, I don't buy a lot of knives and I dont have nearly as many as I do lots of other things i collect so I don't feel like my purchases are frivolous but I do regret every CRKT knife I've ever purchased (other than the drifter that I purchased as a gift to myself when my son was born, its also not really a CRKT but a SRM 707 rebadged)

I bought a well-known trad in stainless at a gunshow for $45. Got home and looked-up the error of my ways, to the tune of about $20! Went back Sunday and offered the dealer $5 as a re-stocking fee, and he took it, WHEW!

My only regretted purchases are the ones I didn't make.
But then I tend to do the research (including holding one in the hand) before committing to a sale.

Oh my. This really caught my attention because I've been looking over at GEC and at the same knife/knives.
I've been thinking about going traditional too now but it's not exactly cheap to do so.
Every time I go to make a purchase I keep thinking " I can get a new Spyder or whatever for that $" and haven't gone through with it.
I'm sorry for your problem and hope you get that Tidioute fixed up.
Still looking that way, but hesitant.

My only regret, this decade anyway, was to buy a Spyderco Salt 1 with serrated edge as opposed to plain edge. It's just too hard to sharpen, for me anyway.
The knife itself other than aforementioned sharpening challenge is excellent though

I regretted buying the Condor Warlock. It was a nice knife but far outclassed by nearly every other chopper i owned. It was the first knife i bought just because i liked the way it looked

I mean, you may get a sharpened knife (I think it's a relatively hit or miss type deal by what I have read) and may appreciate the aesthetics more than I do. I wasn't trying to turn anyone off of traditionals. I am just pretty disappointed. I also think in turns of what I am losing/not getting for my money, and I think (other than the good quality/ultra cheap traditionals like rough rider) modern folders are a much better value. I usually am thinking of a Spyderco as well, and I think they have some of the best value of modern knives.

It's funny you would say your biggest regret is a serrated salt, because my next purchase is probably going to be a fully serrated dragonfly salt. Hope I am not disappointed too!

Maybe you will be happy with the GEC and I'll be happy with the Salt, kind of a reversal.

Many thanks for the welcome. While in the rest of texas knife laws have been changed, I currently live in a city where it's illegal to posses any knife that locks open in public. Yes, you heard me right, there's a city here in the lone star state where it is technically illegal to poses any locking folder in a public setting. Guess that makes me an outlaw.

I regret not picking up a Buck Strider while they were being produced and around $50.... Or several of them.

I picked up a framelock with Ti scales because it was basically bada**. When it came in, as soon as I gripped it, I thought, this blade is too darn big. But I had to have it. The good thing is I realized that no matter what people say on forums or you tube about stuff you have to have, one should stick to their guns about what they like and don't like. In my case its blades that are 3" or smaller.

Cuda MAXX? I did that too.

Meyerco Kirby Lambert Shockwave. Man what a disappointment the fit and finish was crap ,the blade was so off center it rubbed and tried to center it and half the screws stripped.
