What is your short list of the most respected
persons in knifedom? For example, I'm sure Sal Glesser would be on most lists.

Sal Glesser

I can only speak for the few that I have dealt with. But I think

Mike Payne

should be on everyone's list.

Loveless and Lile? Moran? Hard to say who the "most" respected may be. So many to choose from. Walker? The list is endless...

There`s plenty of folks I don`t respect! That would be a much easier list to compile!

Ed Fowler
Larry Brahms
Bob Terzuola
Greg Mete
Seth Rosen
Barry Jones
Gary Graley
Kit Carson
Darrell Ralph
Joe Mangiaracina
David Broadwell
Charles Ochs
Les Robertson
Newt Livesay
I'm sure there are some I forgot, but this is the top of my list. You didn't ask for justthe best makers but respected people in knifedom.

Er there's not that much room! I can go on all day. Those are my short list, and knives from any of those makers would make me exceedingly happy!

I get some pleasure from finding a relentlessly peaceful use for a combative looking knife.

If I were to limit it to folks with a forum presence it would be Gus Kalanzis. You may never meet a finer gentleman.

This could take all night and I agree with all the others that have been posted.

The greatest thing about knives are the people involved.

I've only dealt with a few makers. In no particular order here are my picks:

Newt Livesay
Sal Glesser
Rob Simonich
Bill Seigle
Allen Blade (even though I haven't bought anything yet)
Jerry Hossom and Tom Mayo for all the free advice back when I made a couple of Ti knives. (And for ruthlessly picking on each other and making me laugh.)

Here are some of the guy's that invented our hobby:

AG Russell
J. Bruce Voyles
Bernard Levine
Ken Warner
Harold Peterson
