Would like to know what's regarded here as the most sought after inlay for the Mnandi and also which is your personal favorate. Pics are welcome too. ;)

For me personally it would be a nice gnarly piece of mamoth bark ivory.

For me, it would have to be the one of 25 Redwood Burl/BG42 version that knifeart had as a limited edition years ago. Mine came up missing a few years ago. I can't find the knife, but I've still got the box/clip, etc... I know I didn't sell/trade it, or I'd not have the box, etc... Either it's lost or stolen. :(

Of the current ones, I would be fairly evenly tied between Mammoth Ivory (both inner and bark cut) and Boxwood Elder. I especially love the new runs of this wood with the subtle red highlights, simply gorgeous. But whether it's nicer than one made from the big woolly boys, I wouldn't dare say.

This has saddened me a little too as it reminded me of my finest Mnandi, one of the Giraffe bone series which ran a few years ago for KnifeArt. Some were average colours and some were superb. I don't mind telling you than mine was absolutely magnificent with the most wonderful colours and, to add to the value, it was the very final knife in the run - marked number 50/50. I sold it in my 2006 clear-out :foot:

Still, we move on, and I couldn't be happier with the pair I own now.

Mark

For me....Bark mammoth ivory (that is available) but I wish I could get a giraffe shin bone one, few and far between though!

When I finally purchase one, I'm hoping to score a Mammoth Ivory one. I really like the Box Elder as well.

I love the look of box elder, especially pieces with a bit of red in them.

So many exceptional Mnandi inlays -- almost feel slighted being forced to vote for just one :). I went with mammoth bark. Not the best photos, but you get the idea :o:

Who can argue with the Mammoth Bark Ivory? It's (almost) in a class by itself! I voted 'Other' for the sweet looking Black Dyed Amboyna. Also like the Box Elder and the Lignum Vitae. Truthfully... they're all winners.

I voted for Mammoth Ivory, which I don't have, but do love my Bloodwood!

Yeah, the Black Dyed Amboyna's gorgeous! This one's Richard's:
